Question:ServiceLink...and Im NOT a newbie,lol

Have been following comments about them for years on this site, and never bothered to sign up with them as they sounded like a lot of work for low pay. Yesterday they called me for the first time for a modification basically down the street, so I took it. They sent me the sign up package, 15 pages, professional resume required, Background check proof, references, yada yada. AND I am not seeing a page where it asks me my fees
My question is, is it worth the effort to go through this if they truly call constantly with lowball offers that one must negotiate through, then to have it accepted, then cancelled when they find someone cheaper?
Does anyone ever get xxx, or is it always xx, no budging?
YES, I have read all of the comments in SC, they are all over the map. I really would appreciate input on this. Things are slow but unless they are worth the trouble, I hesitate.....TIA

Re: Service Link always meets my fee...

thank taxpro! can I ask, do you charge xxx? because email docs with faxbacks is just too much to charge xx, curious if you get that. I really appreciate your feedback!

Yes I charge $xxx. I don't take less than $xxx anymore.

Re: Service Link always meets my fee...

They always meet my fee $xxx. Just make sure to snail mail an invoice for all the appts you do in a month. Check is typically received before 30 days. I take all they offer me.

Kara you must be lucky

Service link has not paid XXX in 4 years or so plus add the faxbacks and split packages not worth the 65 bucks they offer.

They were the best to work for ten years ago.

Really?!!

I'm surprised to hear that, because I've been paid $xxx+ consistently, and as recently as last month. I only do a few per month for them, so maybe they call me last because they know I won't work for $xx.

I don't know what they would offer, but that's not how our conversations go. They ask, "What is your fee?" and I say $xxx, and they say ok, I'll send the confirmation. Rarely need an "approval".

Re: Kara you must be lucky

They have always met my fee of $xxx. They call, I ask what the fee is, and they tell me $xxx. I say "Ok". No negotiating necessary.

Beginning of month I snailmail the SL invoice with all of the closings from the previous month, and if I mail it on the 1st, I usually get the check before the 15th.

Re: Service Link always meets my fee...

They meet my fee I just don't get a lot of work from them, which is ok. I've worked for them for years and they pay timely. You have to submit a monthly invoice for payment the next month.

It depends ...

If you have NSAs who also cover your area willing to work for $xx rather than $xxx, the company has no need to meet your fee; i.e., they can always find someone to work for less.

Not to discourage, but check web listings and see how many NSAs cover the same area that you do. Maybe it's slow because others are working for less and the call you received was because their "regulars" at $xx were not available for that date and time.

If your business is slow and you need to increase your customer base, it's your personal call whether to sign up and "try" for a few months to see if you get calls at your fee or walk away and never know.

Re: It depends ...

Good advice, Bobbi. I know how many NSA's are in my area, and I know lots will take less. Worth a shot, nothing to lose. Best wishes to all in this crazy economy!

Re: It depends ...

Service Link always meets my fees..No fax backs..Pays timely. Some of the invoices are mailed in at months end others are generated on line in their website...Depends on the order #.

Sometimes faxbacks, but only if BOA. They are VERY fair when it comes to fees, so take what you can from them. I have dealt with them in various capacities and they have been fair in all regards. Feel free to send me a PM if you need more info.

Unless this has changed, they require add'l BGC & in CA

we are already required to have involved back ground checks both with the DOJ and the FBI but SL still requires more.
