Warning: This board isn't perfect.

It is a lot like families, PTOs, church, and the brick and mortar workplace.

There are a few crazy issues in all of those.

Wherever you have people, you will have opinions that conflict and opinions that must be spoken. You'll also have unpleasant issues and unpleasant remarks.

This is an imperfect place, but it's home to many of us when we have time to relax. I spend more time here than I do on Facebook. I want to know what is going on with the virtual family that's been mine here for the last seven years.

If you don't like something on the board, use the REPORT button. It may or may not be looked at and acted upon by the board owners. I used that button more than five times yesterday, but all the posts are still there that I thought were out of control.

If the board starts to get on your last nerve read something else. Don't expect the board to change for you.

Reporting a post won't notify NR staff unless several

people report the post.

Obviously, this didn't happen yesterday, and I am guilty of being too lazy to report it as well.

I have long felt that this forum needed additional boards - one for general "off topic" posts (like the ones yesterday) that don't really belong in leisure, and separate boards for notary-related discussions and discussions related to problems with loan signing companies.

The truth of the matter is, Harry and company are far too busy trying to run a legitimate business than to constantly monitor this message board. Some of my early posts were out of line, but I've gotten into the "rhythm" of this board and have learned when it is best to stay out of a particular discussion. I think this is something that is learned overtime after many months of interaction on this board.

I would propose that NR appoint some worthy people as moderators (I'm thinking Marian, PAW, Brenda, and the like), who actively participate in this forum on a daily basis, who could move off-topic posts into the separate forum, and/or remove posts that are obviously inappropriate. These individuals are not power-hungry and would not go crazy with their authority.

The problem is, many of our suggestions (like the suggestions I just made), go unnoticed by NR staff. This is not to say that they are at fault. This message board is here for us to discuss, and NR doesn't have time to constantly regulate it. But I think it would do a great deal of good to have some self-governance in this board.

I like the board exactly like it is...wouldn't change

anything about it.

While I agree with you that yesterday's main topic was definitely not the norm and maybe inappropriate for this board, is it really any different than work related topics that quickly get hijacked to simple nonsense? That's more annoying I think and happens every single day. I don't bother to report anything because I, like everyone else has the option to continue reading or not.

>work related topics that quickly get hijacked to simple nonsense>

I am certainly just as guilty about hijacking a thread, and it is fun and funny at the time it is being done. I have laughed so hard at times. You all are just silly and crazy sometimes. I love it.
BUT.... later on down the road, when we do a search, and we're in a hurry, and we really want to read ONLY what the original topic was on, we have to mutter through all the silly stuff, hoping that something is there that will be of importance to what we're looking for.

I do the same too Linda, I'm working hard at staying on topic but I agree with everything you said. Silly, crazy sometimes. Just like this one LOL

if everyone would take the time to link their posts to SC

(Signing Central) it would help others find the information they need in a hurry. It only takes a few seconds to do so. Signing Central works only as good as the contributors adding to it. That should be your first place to look when researching a potential client.

No question. There are certain posters whom I won't even read when they post. I maintain that this is a board where our industry's vendors research "SOLID RESOURCES" for their signings, to meet with their valuable clients. So, folks bear your skills and knowledge here, not your nonsense! There are so many great technicians on this board. When it is all said and done, what is posted here is telling to the world about your demeanor, your common sense, your reliability, your sanity, who and what you are! I'm completely astonished at the stupidity and mindless rhetoric that is displayed on this board, but oh well, once you post here is stays here for eternity.

Have an awesome day!

IMHO = I think Harry does a great job watching over this board....
As to appointing some worthy people as moderators. I think that would just make things worse. All boards have little clicks, ( a group that relates to each other) someone that if appointed would just take sides in the debate.

I agree that we don’t have to read these offensive or inappropriate posts. We certainly don’t have to answer them, because by doing so we just reinforce the sometimes psychotic behavior or beliefs of the poster. But when someone publicly threatens legal action against anyone who posts here that she doesn’t agree with…..maybe we all should be aware ? I also have never agreed with this sites policy regarding anonymity, I feel one can read, but not post anonymously. Personally I always link; my primary purpose here is to advertise. It's Harrys site, and one of the best, so he decides. As for threats, I just consider the source. JMO

Harry has provided us with the "Report" feature, because he respects that they don't have time to constantly monitor the forum. There are days when the "inmates are running the assylum", that's for sure. There are established "Rules & Guidelines" for posting, and I think it shows great disrespect to Harry & all the notaries who participate here to blatantly ignore those rules.
