binder clips
I don't know about any of the rest of you, but I always send my loan paper work back with 2 binder clips on them, and a business card, so I know everything is secure in the Fed Ex or UPS envelope. I go through a ton of these things. I have found super buys on these on Ebay. Just thougth I'd pass along the tip in case anyone is buying these at box stores or Wal-Mart.

I use a binder clip for borrower copies -
original returned package I use rubber band (thinking shipping weight) -
Also, if I've been hired directly by title I'll include business cards; if hired through SS then no business cards in package - some SS frown on notaries including business cards in the package as they feel the notary is direct-marketing to their client.

I agree with Linda; SS do not want you sending cards to the underlying TC and rubberbands are lighter.

Re: I use a binder clip for borrower copies -
I've only had one SS specifically say in the confirmation NOT to include a business card - only one SS. I always include a business card to the TC......so for the future, they will call their client, the SS, and request me to be assigned the job.

I agree, and also include my business card. Also so they can contact me directly if there is any question on the signing, which has happened and I was able to resolve it immediately on the phone.

Re: I use a binder clip for borrower copies -
I use one binder clip on the lender copy; I always include a business card, even if told not to. (but..I tell the SS that I always include a business card and if they don't like it, they'd better hire someone else). I want title to be able to contact me if there is an issue.
I use my heavy duty macho stapler to staple the client copy together along with a handy dandy cover sheet that says BORROWERS' COPY and my name & address down below. By stapling, it ensures that their copy will not get mixed up with lender copy.
I also paperclip my business card to the borrower's copy.

Re: Do you use a binder clip for BO copy?
I put one on the borrower's copy. I use 2 on the copy I'm sending in. It's a cheap price to pay for security. I used to be able to find colored ones and black ones. I'd always put a colored on on the borrower's copy and black on the lender's copy. The borrower's always got a kick out of the colored ones! They are hard to find at a bargain now. To bad, I'm into saving money!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sams Club has binder clips for about $4.70 for a package of 8 with 12 clips in each package. If folks know of cheaper options, I'd really like to know the specifics. I'll look on ebay.
I always clip the BO package, but send the lender package back to title/lender without a clip. If there are checks to include, I always paperclip those to the first few pages of the package. I've never had anyone come back to report this is unacceptable. Think of all the binder clips these companies get if you return them with your packages! They have a on-going supply and they don't have to buy any!

I use a binder clip generally for lender pkg, but put borrower's pkg in a lg manilla envelope with my business card taped to it. If I have several pkgs in my bag for the day, I write b/o name, address and date/time of closing in upper r/h corner so I know I am pulling out correct pkg for them. Occassionally, I will rubberband the lender copy, but it ususally seems to be less frustrating to clip it. I always include a business card in case title has a question about anything, they can contact me directly. If there are STC funds included, I have a # 10 envelope that I print with red stripes on it that has b/o name, loan or escrow #, amt enclosed and payable to indicated on the front. I seal it at table and have borrower sign across seal unless faxback copy of check is required. I have considered asking title cos to send back a bag of clips, but I get 144 of them for around $11 online. 10 x 15 envelopes are $15ish for 100, and I watch for sales.

Re: binder clips...use them...good lesson
Friend never uses them and I do.
TC calls one days and asks did u ship docs?
Of course I say, right away I handed them to a FedEx driver in an Express Truck.
Are you sure u shipped the docs? We received the envelope, but it was empty!
After a few calls, they were found CLIPPED together in Memphis and sent to TC next day.
Lesson learned..clip saved my butt!
