Does anybody have any idea...
...how Bluetooth devices factor in the current concern about cell phones and cancer? I admittedly haven't kept up with the issue, but I have seen no mention of that aspect in the accounts I have read.

I just heard on the radio about fifteen minutes ago researchers found that people who use bluetooth devices are twice as likely to develop brain tumors..............the same researchers reported the same findings for people eating chick-peas!

I just read this about cell phone usage...didn't address bluetooth devices.

Shoot, you can get killed faster by a drunk driver, charging bull in Paloma, a stray bullet in downtown any major city, or even the suburbs. What the hell. Stay connected.

In 74 years, I survived more marriages than I care to count, a youth spent frequenting bus station bars, an Atlanta race riot, and a mob of a couple of hundred sanitation workers, each of whom wanted a piece of my hide to nail over his toilet. I don't think I'm going to fret too much about Sprint.

I saw something about this today. They said that the cell phone companies state in the fine print that in order to meet safe radiation levels you should keep the phone about 1 inch from your ear when using the phone. (who does that?) As for the bluetooth device, they said it also emits low levels of radiation and you should not keep the device in your ear all the time. I think it was a topic on the Dr's show this morning. I for one will reduce the amount of time I wear my bluetooth. They also mentioned the hazard of keeping the phone in your pocket (which I do). More of a problem for us guys. I may start putting my phone in my briefcase when traveling for work.

I wear hearing aids. I have a streamer hanging around my neck that acts as a bluetooth, in addition to amplifying my aids when needed, and feeds directly into my hearing aids. I guess this makes me a candidate for cancer. Well, 73 now and everything OK.

You should try mercola.com and see if you find anything there. A few months ago he was talking about cell phones and blue tooths. I think he was saying that using a blue tooth was much better then puting the cell phone up to your head. Good luck HisHughness.

I just had a flashback memory of walking into our local courthouse and there was a woman standing outside smoking a cigarette. I had my bluetooth in my ear and she looked at me and said, "don't you know those things cause cancer?"........I immediately replied (and I'm usually not this quick), "don't you know those things cause cancer?", referring to her cigarette.

On Dr. Oz a few months back...
He had experts on that said holding the phone to your head transmits radiation directly to your brain. It was also stated that the phone should never be carried on the body, especially near the groin area (as was mentioned-too close to major organs) and that head sets were the safest way to utilize the cell phone.
Though the bluetooth is safer than holding the phone directly to your head (ear, whatever), the head set with the wire was probably the safest (with the exception of speaker phone, which, for most of us, is not practical all the time.) The radiation has to travel from the phone through the wire up to the head set, thereby decreasing the amount that the body is subjected to. When using the bluetooth, the radiation waves are still picked up because of very nature of it, but it's not directly going into the brain like holding the phone to your ear. Dr. Oz (and his experts) recommended using the wired head set for the least amount of cancer causing (brain tumors and other organs) radiation.
This is my interpretation of what was said. It is not verbatim, but is how I recall it being described.
I love, love, love the bluetooth. Though it takes a while getting used to, just like a new pair of shoes or learning how to walk in pumps, high heels, or wearing thongs...bathing suits...lmao...(please excuse THAT vision) I HATE holding the phone while talking on a call. Even speaker phone is rather daunting to me. The wired headsets are a great back up, but after getting used to and using a bluetooth, I don't know that I'll ever want to talk on the cell any other way.
My greatest concern is that it may be affecting my HEARING. Sometimes it hurts my ears from being too loud. Ugh, isn't there always a trade off for convenience, good tasting food, etc, etc.?
