Harder and harder to stay in bussiness

I've been doing signings for a long time,
but these packages are expanding more and more and with gas prices???!!
How much are we really clearing now?
VERY LOW WAGES for hard workers.
161 pages for chase now
159 pages for BOA today.
X 2 for copies
And gas $4.00
Whew!

Exactly and my new fees now reflect the raising costs of fuel and large packages. I'm not nearly as busy as I used to because that's ok because I refuse to do charity work.

wonder if anyone has developed a price list based on document size. Like "Up to 120 pages $99.99; 121-249 pages; $149.99... including copies. Doesn't everyone like a bargain?

At least you're still getting calls & signings. It's almost silent here. I don't like to be taken advantage of, but I also realize I can't afford to do a lot of complaining when the signings do come. I have had a standard policy of an extra $15 for anything over 140 pages. Most companies will pay it.

Everyone is having a hard time staying in business. Several title companies and signing services that were once big players in this industry are gone. Seems like no one is doing anything to help this industry and all the changes that are being made for the better seem to be making it worse. Survival of the fittest!

"Survival of the fittest!". I wish that were the truth.

I've found out that hanging tough isn't necessarily the answer. What seem to be true is that the slime-balls survive. Look at cos. like SOX, Dynamic Field Solutions, etc. Crooks seem to survive somehow. I was taught that hard work, integrity, honesty, etc. pay off. Watch "Inside Job" if you think that's how things work. LOL

Re: "Survival of the fittest!". I wish that were the truth.

I guess that was probably not the best choice of words for what I meant. The sad part is a lot of these slime ball companies are started by our own. That and it makes it hard for the good SS to compete. These low ball companies are pricing the goods ones out of business at the expense of the notary. The old saying is true you get what you pay for. The only problem is these slime balls don't plan on paying from the beginning!
