ISGN
I did a closing for ISGN yesterday and accepted another for tomorrow, 5/4...I went to Signing Central and find only negative comments about their paying late...I guess I have made two mistakes by accepting these assignments...I should have checked Signing Central first... Has anyone been paid on a timely basis by ISGN? Thanks

Why not give the closing for tomorrow back to them? You can bet they won't pay so why give them another job for nothing? You already gave them one today. Don't mean to be nasty bt they are one of the worst.

I would call/email and cancel the whole thing, you wont be paid for the other you just did. Of course this is just my opinion.

Good for you. Don't let people like that take advantage. You already gave them one closing for nothing.

You have also had bad experience with ISGN? I don't understand why some companies don't pay....Thanks again for your input.

I haven't figured out how in the world to check on the company before you accept the assignment. They aren't going to hold on while I look them up on N.R. and what if I am not at a computer. Isn't it more practical to say we can cancel if we find out they are scoundrels?

Yes, Belinda - that is what you should do
If you are away from your source of looking up the company and their record, accept the job. Then, if they are ok, so are you. If not, give it back to them.
And always be polite, cheerful and firm.

You can print all the companies off NR
and keep it in your car. It's a long list. but comes in handy. You have to decide if you agree with the rating system and at what star level you are willing to work for. MOST of the time, the ratings are fairly accurate about what to expect. For me, I will work for 4 stars or above. Anything below might be a risk.. It's always good to go read the comments (after you can get to a computer) to make a determination on the below 4 stars.

I think we need an app for our phones for this purpose!

I had an issue with payment from appointments in January but it was finally resolved. The individuals I spoke with said the company merger/transition had presented several challenges. When I was called in March, I indicated my reluctance but after assurances I accepted appointments. I just rec'd a check today so maybe the adjustment period is over and they are in better operational mode. Can only hope!
