I've never seen it this slow....
I'm just thankful that my husband still works and I collect a pension. This is awful but I'm going to stick around.

I got a few calls last month but all were over 100 miles 1-way & the companies didnt want to pay extra for travel. And anybody who is working for $75 must be riding a bike to their appointments.

If they aren't they should be for taking $75.00 closings. It should hurt.

Well, I guess this is my lucky month, had 52 closings in April and May is booming too. Tons of chase refis.....and I am loving it. So hang in there guys, maybe this will spread to your states too.

It is not that I don’t wish to be the harbinger of doom. There is still ‘some’ business out there, not anywhere enough to keep a million NSA’s or pseudo-NSA’s busy full time. But for an old pro, that can do it part time, it’s still a little supplemental income, and it could come in handy. You’ve already invested in the equipment; you have the knowledge and the time. Stick to your fees, don’t work for deadbeats for ANY fee (promised) and/or for low-ballers (If no one would work for them, they would be gone.) and maybe us survivors will still be able to call ourselves professionals? This business, along with getting old is NOT for sissies! JMO

You are 100% right Les. I've been around for a while as well. Buz isn't great, but it does exist in slowwww motionnn. I'll be hanging in there this isn't the first time it's been slow and surely not the last.

Like BossLady, thank God I have a pension income and don't have to rely on SA income. Definitely will stick to my fees, even if the phone is dead most of the time. As said, those who continue to accept $75 signings in this economy are going to see their Schedule C reflecting a loss for this year.

To add to that, it's also getting harder to get paid. Even
some of the good companies are running slow on payments. Major slowdown all the way around, IMO.

I agree with you all.....
I just got a call to travel 90 miles RT in Friday night rush hour traffic for a wonderful $95! No Thanks!

Thank God I have other pension income. I'll be damned if I take the low ball offers but it sure is slow here. Agree with you all and let's all try to hang in there.

Ditto everyone.
General notary work still seems to be there and actually increasing.

Re: General Notary Work
Glen, as I've spent the majority of my time focused on loan closings, and have seen the same slow down, (though next week looks a little more positive). It would be interesting to understand some of the strategies that you've used to generate a steady stream of general notary work. I usually receive email requests from individuals and I'm not actively marketing my services in that area.
Any ideas would be extremely appreciated.
