If you not happy with us - let me know

Dear Anonymous Notary:

If you are not happy accepting assignments from us, or you do not like working with me, let me know personally. Not sure why I am getting a bashing on Signing Central. I guess I have made a few notaries unhappy and for that I apologize.

I will be happy to remove your name from our database and not call you for assignments since you find working for us a bad arrangement and I am not treating you the way you think I should be. Please PM me and I am sorry we could not work on better terms. Hope you are successful in all your ventures - we all really need a boost these days.

Thank you

Ditto what Sylvia said. I have nothing good to say about your company Gina. Working with you has always been a professional pleasure. I'm surmising that if this "complainer" isn't willing to reveal their identity, then maybe they don't really have a legitimate complaint anyway. Keep up the good work!

Way to go Gina, you rock. I can't imagine anyone complaining about the service that you give. You are always on top of everything.

This is one of the reasons why I posted in the forum to begin with - step up to the plate and make yourself known so I can defend myself or let me eat humble pie and make it right. Just blindly posting without ever contacting me about the issue says a alot about you. Let's make it right

My question here is if someone wants to post either positive or negative information on SC why not make it mandatory that they positively identify themselve? That means no one can hide in the event they want to post negative information and other SS or whatever must now be able to somewhat defend their actions.

I hate to be the wet blanket here...

...but it seems to me all you guys with your "attaboys!" and "Gogirlgos!" are overlooking something major.

Ocean Pacific is obviously based on discrimination.

I mean, what about the East Coast? Just what does Gina have against them? Howcum it isn't Ocean Pacific/Atlantic Notary Services, Inc.? In fact, and I didn't want to make this personal, but I'm in Texas, so why isn't it Ocean Pacific/Atlantic/Gulf Coast Notary Services, Inc.?

Are you guys overlooking the obvious bigotry of this company just because you like the owner? I mean, we haven't even mentioned those folks up in Michigan on the Great Lakes; what does Gina find wrong with them?

I appeal to all of you who are taking business from this patently prejudiced company to turn it down in the future. That's especially true of signing agents here in Texas; at least Gina recognizes the existence of oceans, something she doesn't do for gulfs. So if any of my Texas colleagues get a call from her, send her packing. I'll even help: If she calls, just brush her off by giving her <my> phone number, and I'll deal with her.

Glad to help.

IF you are referring to the IL rating....

that was me. And I didn’t know I posted "anonymous" or that the DO NOT contact me box (or whatever it says) was checked, but its fixed now.

I gave your company the rating I felt it deserved due to a closing I (my company) was hired for back in 2008. Boy, how times have changed!

Anywhoooo, I think the only fair thing to do here, is to post WHY I gave Ocean the rating I did, if anything for the sake of clarity. I do not believe in anonymous postings, and others that have worked with me, and know me in this business, know that I am honest, fair, straight forward, and whole heartedly believe in transparency.

I'm sure there will be others here that will still praise you and your company, for this, that or the other, and that's fine. You deserve your praise when it’s due, as everyone does. But at the same token there can be no pros without the cons.

Having said this, and to be absolutely clear, my reply to your post, is NOT to bash you or your company. I only merely going to post the WHY I rated your company the way I did for the sake of clarity on my decision.

To sum, we agreed on a signing fee which included edocs. I then confirmed with the borrowers the date and time. But received the docs the next day via overnight. I sent you a courtesy email indicating that I received the docs. Then I received the following email from you....

<<Cari, I adjusted fee to $XXX – since these were not edocs.
Gina DePriest
Ocean Pacific Notary Services, Inc.>>
______________________________________________
To which I replied,
<<Hi Gina,
...it is Chicago Notary Services policy that once our fee has been accepted and confirmed by our clients, adjusting the fee, for whatever reason, without our written consent is not acceptable.

We will make an exception this time, however for future closings, regardless how the docs are sent, once our fee is accepted and confirmed by Ocean Pacific Notary, it is not adjustable by you or us, and we will expect payment according to our confirmation.

If our policy is not acceptable, and you feel that this sort of incident may happen again, please advise. We will probably have to remove your company from our client list.
Thanks,
-Cari>>
______________________________________________
To which you replied,

<<Ocean Pacific Notary Services <[e-mail address]> wrote:
WE will pay the confirmed fee of XXX.00 – REMOVE us immediately from your vendor list. We will begin looking for another service in the area.
Gina DePriest
Ocean Pacific Notary Services, Inc.>>
__-____________________________________________

To which my competition was very very happy no doubt, but that was that.

For the record, Ocean's did pay the fee as originally agreed. And in big bold RED letters someone from the company wrote, “DO NOT USE”. I assumed that you wouldn't be calling us again, and did remove your company off our client list. Done.

And yes. You’re absolutely correct in that <<we all really need a boost these days>>. However, I will NOT "boost" or give a positive rating to any company that blantantly chooses to lower an agreed upon fee in lieu of calling to at the very least, negotiate an adjusted fee!

Our company policies have since been finely tuned, and it is customary for us to send a reply to any confirmation email with our companies expectations and policies regarding method of, and payment dates, print or fax fees, etc.

And it's not that I am unhappy with Ocean then (or even now) I was more than willing to work with you, however, you made the decision to NOT work with me or my company.

However, no harm no foul now as its been years passed since that closing, and we have both moved on. I applaud you for seeking the truth and I hope I provided it.

Though it’s been slow, we do have a comfortable client base that provides us with a steady stream of work, for which we are very very grateful for, and I hope the same applies to you and your company.

Good luck!

Cari, why did you wait 3 years to post your comment?

And what is it you wished to accomplish after all this time? Ocean Pacific has at least 50 (didn't count) positive comments to your 1 and I think 1 other. Your negative comment would not have swayed me after seeing all the positive. I immediately thought when I looked at your comment that it had to be something kind of odd. Odd, yes it was.

It hasn't happened often, but a few times where it when I took the assignment and they said it would be edocs and it changed to o/n docs, I expected my fee to be lowered. The fee quoted was for edocs and am thrilled that I don't have to print and would gladly lower my fee . To me, that is fair. Not letting you know in advance isn't fair either and I agree with that part. Just so we're all on the same page, a phone call or email should have been made. Saves hard feelings, even 3 years later.

I'm sorry, but I can't agree with you on this one, although you have every right to the way to run your business as you see fit. I see where you're coming from though, but I certainly would have let this alone after 3 years. What's the point??

Cari, I don't have a dog in the hunt...

...between you and Ocean Pacific. This posting is intended to address a problem that might be ecountered by other signing agents.

<If> your fee was a flat fee, quoted without any discussion of the individual components of that fee, then I think you are correct: You are entitled to be consulted before the fee is reduced upon the non-performance of any one of the components.

If, however, you broke the fee down for the hiring party, then I think any hiring party would be justified in unilaterally reducing the fee by the amount charged for any individual component if you don't perform on that component.

Not weighing in on either side, either for you or for the Ocean Pacific/Ocean Atlantic/Gulf of Mexico/Bay of Biscayne/Lake Superior/Golden Pond Notary Services.

If anyone wants a quick lesson in dealing with conflicts, this thread is a great case study. I found this post to be a very classy way of trying to address a possiblel negative issue! It was straightforward, transparent, respectful and genuinely interested in addressing the issue, not trying to get back at someone or prove a point. As we've seen, an understanding was reached (whether or not the parties agree is beside the point), and everyone is still on good terms. Gotta love it!
