Joining the ranks of the employed....
Like so many of us with the downturn of business, I am joining those NSA's who have had to take a parttime job to supplement income. I was lucky enough to get on with a local title company, during which time I hope to learn more about what happens on "the other side of the table". Will still be doing signings, but my availability will be limited for now. And I'll still be lurking on this board, which is still the best forum I know to keep up on our business.

Another phenom ..just as some notaries are taking low fees, SS are blackballing notaries there are "newbies " entering the TC World. One didn't even know the borrower was suppose to get a copy of the loan Docs....maybe you'll be able to help the TC also by showing them your "other" side of the table. Good Luck!

I'm thinking about going to work, too
I understand there is an opening for head of the IMF.
The only reason I'm hesitating is that I'm not sure I'm willing to go slumming in $3,000 a night hotel rooms.

I think there is much higher work than this for you Hughness than this age-old profession! The French guy is getting out on bail today, right? with some pretty stiff limitations...pardon the pun.

Re: sounds like (pun) possibility of hard time.
Yes, we're all experiencing hard times, some are having harder times than others on many levels. Recent behaviour of certain dignataries makes me wonder if after all is said and done, their expertise may have fallen on leaner times...going forward. How do you get work after this unacceptable, inappropriate behavior?

Good Luck, this round of slow downs will put a fork
in most people, the only ones who will remain after this round will be housewives, people who only do this for fun money and retiree's.
3 this month for me, made almost that amount in GN work. Not going to cut it for me and I know of 3 other locals who are just as dead so it's not like someone is taking cheap work there is no work in this area at all.

Re: I just took a PT job, too.
I haven't started, yet, but fully expect to get lots of calls now. (like when we SA's go on vacation.)
I've received 3 calls for closings next week, which is fine b/c I won't start the new job until June.
With every company I work for, emailing that they want a bg check, and will only accept the one from the co. they are sending the info from, I figure this job is going to cost more than I make anyway.
