Loan Signing Offer - Fee Schedule

I received a loan signing offer via email from a company I've never heard of and not in Signing Central. I prefer a phone call to an email but and decided I'd go along with the email. At first I was going to just state that I was not available for the time slot - thanks for thinking of me. Instead, I replied with the time I *am* available on that date. Lately, Notaries have posted that they discuss one type of signing with the scheduler and when the docs are received, the loan package is different than what was discussed. Therefore I included my fee schedule so there are no surprises on either end.

Here's the email: Please do not respond with just “yes I can do it.” See directions below. We need a notary closer for X date and X time, in X city.

This is a Citibank refi with eDocs, so package generally runs 85 to 115 pages, but usually under 100, with a copy for the borrower, of course.

Please reply if you are available, and INCLUDE FEE that you require. IF YOU RESPOND WITHOUT FEE REQUIREMENTS, WE WILL NOT CONSIDER YOUR EMAIL AT ALL. We have multiple requests to place, and it becomes very time consuming for us to ask more than once. We appreciate your patience and cooperation. Thank you.

My response: On X date, I am available for a loan signing at 6pm or 7pm only.

Fee schedule:
For a single refi with edocs, 150 pages or less, 20 or less fax backs, payment net 30 - my base fee is $XXX.

Packages 150 - 200 pages per set - add $XX to base fee.

200+ pages per set........add $XX to base fee.
Full package fax backs.....add $XX to base fee.
Distances beyond 50 miles one way......add $XX to base fee.
Payment not received within 30 days from the date of service....add $XX late fee
Borrower No-Sign - half of contracted fee
Borrower No-Show - print and trip fee (based on size of loan package and travel distance to borrower).
For questions or clarification, please don't hesitate to call.

I'm sure the assignment is filled as I received the email at 8am and didn't see it until late afternoon. If my fees are more than they're willing to pay, then I'm probably removed from their Notary list. But I'd rather they know up front, what my fees are up front so neither of us wastes the other's time with what they know I won't accept and with what they know they're not willing to pay.

I hate blast e-mail job offers

9 times out of 10 (a) the job is "already assigned" by the time you respond; or (b) the fee is bargain basement level...

I usually just "delete"...ESPECIALLY if it's from someone I've never worked for before - never mind never heard of.

Re: I hate blast e-mail job offers

while my sister and I were out for ice cream, she got a call for a refi with faxbacks and the offer was $60.00. Its only getting worse.

So true! You could respond 5 seconds after you get the email and they'd still reply "already assigned". Normally, I don't respond to blast emails either but decided to reply to this one KNOWING they'd ignore my email, would reply with "already assigned", or would be unwilling to meet my fee.

Can't remember who, but after becoming a regular, one

SS could sent a "can do?" email, and I'd either "Can do for XXX, send confirm if ok, and I'll get with bo's when I get home," or "No can do."

That was a while back, though.

Today? If I don't know someone? We'd better chat on the phone a bit before I decide whether to extend credit.

Speaking of the Bottom Line Question: What is this Work costing me? Budgeting.

I just re-calculated my Mile Per Dollar (MP$) to get a handle on distances, for instance. A fiscal mirror of miles-per-gallon, so if the price of gas is $4.23, and my MPG is 39 = I can travel 9.29 miles for every Dollar in my tank. (There's still the ancillary costs for driving, of course.)

Here's a trusty site to explore to calculate how many miles you go on a dollar, no matter what you drive:

http://www.unfocusedbrain.com/projects/miles_per_dollar/

Whether one pays cash or charges the out-of-pocket-expenses for fuel and supplies, tools for adjusting our budgets are, dare I say it (?) - handy, yes, like a shirt on a pocket. Wink

Plus, the Lost Sun came out today - all day -, and it's still barely light out, but Spring is busting out all over on the lake, and here come the duck-paddled rippling Vees headed back to the shores, reflecting the Greeneries on the farside rolling hills.

Anyway, the hard calculation of true costs...
