OMG!! Fed Ex
What the h-e-double l is going on with Fed Ex!! I was just trying to order supplies and you would think I was trying to take over the world. First they dont tell me my card is expired and under no circumstances can I get their supplies. So after taking to someone we finally got that straightened out and I make my order. Then a couple weeks go by and no supplies so I call to find out what is going on only to be told there is no order history for me for supplies......What!! So the gal makes the order for me.
Then they drop off one part of the supplies and its the wrong envelopes. I call to make sure that the rest of the order is correct and I ask the guy if there has been some changes and he tells me no. I try and explain to him the trouble Im having getting supplies and he of course apologizes but offers up no solutions.
Today, I get a phone call from one of their reps telling me cause I havent 'paid' for any shipping but am ordering supplies, I have to give them a company account number of one of the comps that I work for to order supplies so I can order under their account number?????? Say what?? They want proof Im actually using their shipping products. So I ask her, has there been some changes with Fed Ex lateley and guess what, she says yes. When someone has an account, orders supplies, but doesnt pay for shipping, they will call everytime you order and bug you for information on what company you work for. They are doing this because they are spending lots of money on free supplies and they want to make sure their shipping supplies are being used for Fed Ex purposes only.
I told her I cannot give her that info. This just doesnt make any sense. I asked her what would I be doing with the supplies if Im not using them to ship stuff. She said you would be suprized on what people are doing with them.
My god, just give me the supplies. And to make matters worse, I cannot get supplies around here anywhere, not in bulk anyway.
Im about ready to tell them if they dont want to give me the supplies I will let the companies know this and maybe we can work with UPS instead.........
This is just really steamin' me up........

UPS will do the same........ No money from you to UPS in six months, no more free spplies and your account will be cancelled........ Makes me wonder how other members of NotRot get sufficient supplies.

Sounds like they don't need your business, Lisa! Nice in this economy, not to promote new business with potential customers or existing ones.

Any suggestions from anyone?? What a hassle this is.....
And UPS is doing the same thing? Lord help us all, customer service is going to the dogs Im noticing on a grand scale, not just with this.

Why not go to a FedEx store and take all of the
envelopes they have laying out?

No FedEx store there to get supplies, which, I can
relate to here in my area.

small town USA here, we have one shipping store for FedEx and guess what, I just called and they dont have the envelopes I need. I also know from past experience with this particular store, they dont keep them on hand for the most part.......and they guys on the trucks dont carry them either, Ive asked.

I have no problems (yet) getting supplies here. The shipping center here allows me to leave my bus cards (I ave. two calls a week) and I take what I need from the counter. Last year I gave a one lb bag mints to the people at the counter and they were very appreciative.
FedEx Kinko, I take what I need from the counter.
I also order on-line and they limit my quantity to 25 of each item. That's been my experience for the past two years.

Maybe thats what I need to do is order online. Why that would make a difference I dont know though, the circumstances havent changed on why I need the supplies or that I dont pay for shipping. The relevent topic seemed to be "cause I was getting free shipping supplies, and not paying for shipping"

And to make matters worse, I just got a call for a closing and guess who they use for their shipper? Yep, FedEx and I dont have the envelope I need.......
The guy at the store said to use a UPS envelope. I really dont want to do that. My luck, I would drop it in the FedEx box and the driver would see the envelope without looking at the label and put it in the UPS box.........
Off topic here, but would you believe it is snowing here

Lisa:
Raid the Fed Ex drop box and double pack the docs if you have too with two of the soft legal size envelopes. Or use a UPS pack, slide that into a soft Fed Ex pack and put your label on the outside. This is ridiculous! What would people use these things for other than shipping?

Re: OMG!! Fed Ex-Janel
I would raid the boxes if they had them. I check everytime I drop and they dont put the legal size in the boxes around here.
I like your 2nd idea though. And yes, this is absolutely ridiculous I have to stoop to this in order to ship things.

I return all loan documents in FedEx envelopes
I can't get very many envelopes from the UPS store across the street so for the last couple of years I return all documents in FedEx envelopes. I've never had a problem.
We have some regional companies in CA like Golden State Overnight, etc and these companies don't provide supplies so everything goes back in a FedEx envelope; these type of regional companies supply an air bill to be printed out.

Order online or when you call to order just give them the last 10 tracking numbers of your shipping to prove you still use them but not paying for the shipping.

All else fails let your hiring party know what's going on
with your FedEx supply issue - have your hiring party arrange pickup at your location and instruct FedEx to bring an envelope with them....
<<shrug>>....might work.

I've ordered online and UPS still deactivated my account because I did not order within 30 days and I did not use them and pay for shipping. I use Fed Ex more than I use UPS around here...so before I only ordered UPS about every 60 days...I am forced to order every 30 days or my account number is deactivated. Fed Ex; so far I have not had that issue, and I order strictly online. However, I did use them this last month to ship my business taxes down to my tax rep...so we will see what happens on the next order.

My UPS acct was canceled due to lack of "activity." However, they told me I didn't need an account to order supplies. My local UPS hub prefers that I order supplies directly. No problem, no hassle.

The free supplies that you request cost ups and fedex. They provide them for customers. Because you have no account or do not pay for shipping they do not see you as a customer. People use their supplies to ship through their competitors, for ground shipping (these are only provided for express), school projects and many other uses. Even large companies have to have requirements. It is not just the little guy who is suffering in this economy. There are at least two ways at looking at most situations. Good luck to you.

I rarely use my account number.
However, I almost always call for a pickup. Therefore FedEx can see that I am using their supplies for shipping purposes. However, I get their airbills at the drop box.

Reply by HisHughness on 5/3/11 11:51am Msg #382003
This may be naive, but why can't you just use a plain manilla envelope, and the appropriate airbill? People ship items all the time -- bicycles, automobile axles, stereos -- all the time through both UPS and FedEx without using FedEx envelopes or containers. Why would that not work for documents, as long as you use the correct label?
|
Reply by LisaWI on 5/3/11 12:13pm Msg #382006
I would not trust the manilla envelopes to make it thru the shipping in one piece, too thin.
Here is my thought process, the comps we work for rely on us to have these supplies on hand to ship back to them. They dont need or want the hassle of us getting supplies, they shouldnt have to worry about it. The girl told me to have one of the comps I work for get the supplies for me. Do you really think these companies want this hassle? I doubt it. Can you imagine all their vendors calling them to order their supplies?
End of rant. I stand behind I think this is ridiculous. I will order online from now on and hopefully that will take care of this. (Thank you James )

You're welcome......My fees takes all that stuff into account, otherwise they get what they pay for. Of course the USPS got this deal where "it it fits, it ships" for one flat rate. We could always ball the DOCS up and cram them into the box and ship it take way. ROFLMAO

Hugh
If you do not use the appropriate letter/envelope for ups and fedex they will not give the letter rate and will start at the 1 lb rate which cost at their retail rates about $10 more per shipment. I too, do not trust manilla envelopes in their sorting and shipping systems.

The reason your local FedEx shipping store as well as the FedEx customer center at the terminal doesn't have "extra"/enough to give out "bulk" supplies to you is FedEx Corp now restricts how many many supplies they ship out. P S As much as I like UPS, guss what, they do much the same.

I do all my labels online with my Fed Ex account. I guess because of that reason I never have any problem or charge when I order supplies online. Try online and see if that works. I order Legal Size Envelopes but never order a bunch at one time. Maybe that is the key. Good luck. I HATE fed ex and ups. Wish there were a better option.

I set up accts. with Fedex & UPS when I was starting out.
UPS closed my acct. for being inactive, but still doesn't give me a hassle about ordering supplies online. I use Fedex online for printing labels, etc. Every now & then one of their reps call me & I explain that billing isn't made to my acct., but to the recipient. So far I haven't had a problem ordering supplies. It might be easier to set up an acct. Many notaries don't want to do that for fear of being backcharged for shipments if a co. goes under. IMO that's part of the risk of doing biz & I only ever got back-charged for shipping for one co. a few years ago. I didn't like it, but life goes on.

Here's one reason why....
they're getting stingy with the supplies. This guy built a houseful of furniture out of Fedex boxes, tubes and envelopes. Fedex got nasty about it, and blew an opportunity to get some good publicity.

I can understand FedEx getting upset about the furniture. I'm sure that they wouldn't want others to build furniture on their dime, but that is really creative. : )

Re: Here's one reason why....
Yes, but it seemed they blew an opportunity for some good publicity. Instead, they overreacted and had a hissy fit about it, and came off sounding like a bunch of Scrooges. They could have sponsored a contest for the most creative use of boxes. What little it would have cost them in supplies, would have been worth much more in positive publicity.

Not to mention the hard time they are giving other people who do use their supplies for the intended purposes. I think they are still overreacting. This kind of explains why the girl was talking to me today the way she was. I knew something wasnt right with the phone call in the first place.
It is a really sad day when your word doesnt mean squat.

A person at the Fed Ex store I go to said that people take a bunch of the label pouches, take the backing off, and use them to get lint off clothes. While they put al the envelopes out, they now put the pouches behind the counter.

Re: I'm glad you posted the reason there aren't
*laughs* Me, too. The reason for that has been driving me crazy because it seemed so inane, especially since the guy is always happy to give me a handful when I ask for them.
The only place to get any kind of bulk supplies in this county is at the FedEx store, and it's about 20 miles away. I always stop by when I'm in the area and clean them out of legal envelopes. The counter guy is used to me now and just starts getting more out to stock when he sees me come in the door.

Reading taxpro's site about building furniture out of FedEx supplies and thier "S & D" letter. I got an e-mail from the Parker County (TX) Republican Chairperson to "C & D" using "Parker County Tea Party". She now had file that name. I was not allowed to use it. Any "dummie" can try anything. never had any problem with either one
Since I started in '05, I've used on-line accounts for both and I also use the on-line system for my labels. I've never had a phone call from them, never a misshap, one back-charge (few years ago, title co that closed the day I shipped the pkg) but like Marilyn said - it's a pretty small risk, 1 out of maybe 3,000?
I suspect there's two parts to their scrutiny - 1 is the fact that people DO use boxes & envelopes for 'projects', and the other is likely a security issue (just keeping tabs on things?).

Been ordering online for almost 10 years, never a problem;
love my Couriers, FedEx and UPS - I've signed 'em, chased e'm down the Highway with envelopes prominently obvious on the dash where even the local cops, many of whom I've signed too, don't mind the traffic dancin' on occasion when Truck and Local Mobile Notary are both trying to make deadlines.
One driver reported to the dispatcher when she asked if he could make an emergency meet at the D River Wayside replied: "Are you kidding? She leaves ~cookies~!"
Love my local peeps.
