Over 1 pound on Fedex envelope
Anyone having trouble with Fedex accepting their envelope over 1 lb. They refused one today for being over 1 lb and when I try to create label I get error if over one pound. Do they have a max of 1 pound on envelopes?

I've never had them refuse one. They charge the PAK ( the bigger bag) rate for anything over one pound...

They take it, weigh and re-label with correct weight. It's probably the FEDEX office in your area. So make them happy and put it in the soft envelope.

agree with Ilene and copperhead. Just fyi...fedex kinko cannot change anything..only the driver and shipping center. Bottom line they will ship the revenue ( I mean package LOL).

I've had weights of 3 lbs. in the envelopes. When I create an online shipping label, I have to put in l lb., but they weigh them & charge accordingly. I've never had one rejected yet.

Yes I had one rejected at the FedEx-staffed counter once last year, with a prepaid label from the TC. The FedEx employee tried to upgrade it but couldn't for some reason. I'm sure that if I had dropped it into a drop box, they would have figured out how to upgrade it!

Just wondering - are YOU weighing them?
I always use my personal 'default' weight of .25 lbs, I always use the on-line system, I always use a drop-box. Never had any problems - and most definitely, that default weight is about as close to accurate as a Michigan weather forecast.

Your preprinted airbill may not be set for the right weight
It seemed that recently when trying to return a package using the pre-printed airbill, Jim (counter person) at the Kinkos couldn't get the system to accept the package. On one other occasion it took several tries, but Jim finally got it done. Since this wasn't the first time, I asked if there was a problem with the airbill and was told that what happened was that when the airbill was created the weight was set for an envelope (minimum weight) not a pak which is what I was using - the package wouldn't fit in an envelope. As Irene said, on each time it was resolved by recalculating and reprinting the label.
Yes, they will weigh and charge for the appropriate weight, but I would be more concerned about trying to get all those pages into a container that is obviously too small for the amount. Especially since not too many Kinkos or stations have the legal size envelope readily available.

Don't forget that on the other side of this, the companies have negotiated volume rates with the carriers and may indeed only pay a 1 pound ( or 8 oz letter) rate no matter what is in the package. That's why many companies insist you use the letter/legal envelopes, not other types of paks, and preprinted labels. Doesn't matter what you or Fed. Kinkos uprates it, it's what the copany is charged/pays.

Never had a greater than 1 lb package, in the legal cardboard envelope, refused with a preprinted label at the FedEx office. If I have to make up the label myself (I never print a label on the computer), I always check the FedEx Pak box..if I don't, they change it at the FedEx office. They insist that any label I make shows anything weighing over 1 lb as FedEx Pak, and any docs of 100 pgs or more are always over 1 lb.
