Hello, I have been a Notary Signing Agent for more than ten years. We have all made mistakes along the way and have worked hard to "drum up" business. Do not be afraid to make mistakes; we learn valuable lessons from mistakes. You, like the rest of us will make mistakes. Carefully look at the companies listed in Signing Central. Read the comments input by members of this site and draw your own conclusions. What may work for one signing agent may not work for everyone. We are all unique and run our businesses as we choose. I reccommend that you have confidence and do the work - put in the work - you will savor your successes more and you will surely learn from your mistakes. Any by the way, it takes more than five months to build a list of companies you have good rapport with. This doesn't happen overnight; it takes many months. Start the work - we all "pounded the pavement" - so to speak. You will need to do the same. I have come to know that this website does not have "silver platters". We all work really hard. You can be successful if you put in the work. Good luck with your new endeavor.
p.s. I mean no harm - I am simply telling you like it is. Stephanie

My very best suggestion is to go into Signing Central and sign up with every company rated 4 stars or better. I also signed up with quite a few 3 stars, but only after carefully reading reviews and forum comments. I had all my information in a file so I could quickly attach it to apps and emails.
Get yourself a website. Mine has brought me SO much business, both from SS and everyday customers.
Market yourself. A sign on your car, postcards, business cards. I don't go into any business without asking if I can either give them a card or put up a cardholder. Almost none say no. If someone uses me once, I give them a coupon for 20% off their next notarization.
Get yourself listed on google places. HUGE influx of business.
I am really quite busy almost all month long, both with signings and notarizations in the community. The biggest thing you can do is a good job. Make sure every loan package is quadruple checked before you send it out. If a SS is loyal to you, thank them.
Good luck!
