Yahoo Mail not so Yahoo Anymore

I was in my msgs this morning and then all of the sudden it decided it wasnt going to work. With the new beta coming out I have been having nothing but problems. Msgs not opening, cant send attachments, cant reply to msgs, ect.

I tried the new yahoo and wasnt really impressed so I went back. I guess the new yahoo will be mandatory and you wont have a choice but to switch over. I think you can go with classic if you want though.

What ever happened to the concept if it aint broke, dont try to fix it Smile

Is anyone else having problems this morning?

"if it aint broke, dont try to fix it"

The people who run websites simply don't use this methodology.

I am so sick of seeing websites that used to be easy to use being made difficult. Your example of Yahoo is a good one - but also the FedEx Office website. I get stuff printed at FedEx a lot, and they recently changed their website making it so diffcult to use. Luckily they are still letting customers use the "classic" website, but eventually I'm sure it will go away.

I agree - I use the FedEx classic version too. Same with MapQuest. the *new and improved* websites have become so interactive that every time your mouse scrolls over something, the website tries to take you somewhere else. Very annoying!

Mapquest is another one. They changed my address for some unknown reason. Spoke with the company who is in charge of the website. She said it could take up to 1 year to get it fixed. Uggg!

This doesn't make sense. You're saying two diametrically opposite things.

You haven't been hanging around with my ex-wife, have you?

LOL Hugh. No, not hanging around with your ex....not that I know of anyway.

Let me explain the Yahoo thingy. There are currently three versions right now. Hopefully I have this right. There is Classic, Mail Plus and then the new Beta. If I have this correct, the Mail Plus is the one that is disappearing. So your options will be, go with the Classic or go with the Beta.

If I dont have that correct, feel free to correct me. I do know there is 3 versions right now, just not sure of the technical names.

I have been using the Beta and noticed that I have been getting a lot os spam now.
Even the Nigerian Prince is contacting me.

I thought the Beta was supposed to be 'less' spam? When I tried it, I didnt like the way it displayed the msgs when you clicked on them. It wouldnt allow the double pain for viewing the msgs without completely opening them. Im OCD and this was very inefficient, IMO.

Same problem here. I switched over to Beta Mail on Monday. Some of the programs (cut/paste/copy, printing from the internet, attaching files, turning off spell check) are on again off again. Big pain in the you know where.

Re: Lisa....

I just switched back to classic for the same reason. When I would click on a message, it would just sit there...when I am busy and need to open docs, I don't have time for that. I would have to close it out and come back in for it to work. So, I switched back to the classic view and I don't have those issues.

Plus, I notice my yahoo business mail and forwarding option is sketchy at best. I will get some emails forwarded to my live account and not others. So, I turned off the forwarding, and found it was the same forcing me to call back the title companies to ask them to now use an alternate email in conjunction with my yahoo address so I am sure to get the confirmation the first time. Yahoo is more like Boohoo! :-(

Like all good things, they come to an end when someone decides they have a better mouse trap than the one before!

I don't always subscribe to the "If it ain't broke...." sentiment; but in this case, Amen!

actually, for a while now...I'm thinking of using Outlook

for all of my emails...used to use it before, but then was frustrated because I had to separate each and every email to the right business, notary, paralegal, wedding,...it was a chore!

I don't care for the new yahoo either...but DO like the double pane view, however, that's about it...

Re: actually, for a while now...I'm thinking of using Outlook

Carrie, when you use Outlook, do you organize your messages with Rules? I've found it works well for me. I get a lot of junk newsletters, so have set rules to separate my business mail from the rest. Works great.
