That is only to be expected

Each of the cities listed has a higher than average percentage of signing agents, which of course would increase the number of wealthy residents.

Can't speak for the other cities...but

If you guys could see No. 3, Bridgeport, CT, you'd never believe this survey...I'm FROM Bridgeport and don't believe this for a minute. Fairfield, Norwalk and Stamford - maybe - absolutely Fairfield and Greenwich...but Bridgeport?? Pardon my french but NFW...

I think they listed, basically, the "county seat" - which Bridgeport is the county seat for Fairfield County, and I'd believe Fairfield County could be number 3, but never never Bridgeport.

Re: San Jose & Oxnard, no way! Bogus survey, and Hughs post is

I had the same reaction when I saw Oxnard on the list. I thought: Montecito or Santa Barbara maybe, but Oxnard?? And what about places like Palm Beach, for that matter?

Or maybe the key is when they said "liquid" assets as a criteria... I'm guessing the truly wealthy have their wealth invested differently, so a lot of it may be in the definition and selection process.

Oxnard? NO WAY!

That is my area. Oxnard resembles a non-English-speaking third world country, filled with gang-members, drugs, shooting and stabbings. I feel uncomfortable driving there at night. Every morning the local news is who got stabbed or robbed in Oxnard, and if it was gang-related. Most of my Pick-a-payment loans were in Oxnard, now it is full of foreclosures that the former owners trashed on the way out. The money is in Santa Barbara, just 45 minutes North of Oxnard, and everyone here knows it.

Re: Oxnard? NO WAY!

I just had another thought... they might be referring to "areas" labeled as SMSAs or Standard Metropolitan Statistical Areas, as used for all kinds of demographic studies and research. The SMSAs tend to lump areas together in strange ways sometimes, as I recall. (It's been a very, very long time since I've had anything to do with that stuff.)

I am wondering where NYC and Beverly Hills, CA

are in the list?
I'd think those 2 cities would have lots of millionaires.

Re: I am wondering where NYC and Beverly Hills, CA

I agree, Mistarella, First city in Ca. that came to my mind, in addition to Beverly Hills was San Marino, Calif.: The median list price of a single family home is US $1,987,500, as of July 2010 in this downward market. The prevalence of movies are shot on location in San Marino, some notable sets are Fresh Prince Of Belair and Father of the Bride! Speaking of Belair....those residents would have to seriously top Oxnard and Ventura, something is amiss! There is some serious "old money" in San Marino, Think Huntington Library family!

Reminds me of "Best Place for Women to get Married"

There was a survey back when I was a young, single woman. It came out in Cosmopolitan Magazine, the source for single women living the cosmopolitan lifestyle in Brazoria, Texas, Pop. 3,500.

It was based on demographics. My city, Brazoria, Texas, was at the very top! Huntsville was #2.

Of course, the fact checkers forgot to check out why the numbers were so darn high.

Answer: The red brick walls of the Texas Prison System within Brazoria's zip code.

One list showed Trenton NJ as one of the cities.. OMG are they kidding it's one step above Camden or Newark. Only people who live there that are rich don't declare the income and carry a gun.

North Jersey, and Central Jersey have always had some of the highest income levels in the country.

I've been to San Fran and San Jose, nice areas but you have to step over all the homeless people on the sidewalks and parks.

Re: Ok I figured out why we are puzzled!

They said "millionaires," not billionaires! It doesn't take that much to be a millionaire these days; some of us on this forum are millionaires on paper! lol
