A follow up to yesterdays post
JMT document Services sent me an email to sign up with them. They offered $50 for overnight and an extra $25 for edocs.
I replyed to their emal with my prices and they called me back and accepted, so I filled out the sign up papers.
They called me back today and wanted a background check. I said "every notary in California is required to have a background check before becoming commissioned. I had my fingerprints taken by live scan at the sherriffs department and a background check by the DOJ and the FBI"
She said "I have to have another one through NNA or where ever it was they recomend."
Where does this madness end? I guess the DOJ or the FBI is not good enough for them.

I wouldn't waste my time (or money) getting an additional background check done for them. I've been signed up with them for years and even though they agreed to my fees they still only offer $50 + $25 for edocs whenever they call. I always remind them of my fees and they always say they can't pay that and they will have to call someone else who will do it cheaper. Needless to say, I haven't accepted a job from them in years.

The problem is that very few trust the government anymore!

This has been discussed many times before. It isn't legal
for them to require the bgc through NNA. Unfortunately, that organization does a good job of marketing & convincing companies that they are the leading authority in the industry--not!!!! You can get a bgc right here through NR. At least that way you're covered if they don't want to accept the CA one.

Quick FYI - LSI for one does not accept NotRot BGC
Must be NNA, or NNA-like, to be acceptable to LSI (personal experience speaking here)
Too many initials in this post...apologies!!!...
