American Freedom Assurance
Having worked for this company occassionally in the past, I knew about their slow payment. The ratings on SC are not good but I spoke to Kaitlin and she ASSURED me that they have a new payment schedule in place. So I took the signing knowing that even if it was slow, I would eventually be paid.
Pleased to report that I received my check 2 weeks after signing. I did update SC but thought I would pass this on. I hope that this is the case for all their assignments forthcoming.

oops, hit enter too soon...
I only say that because there are posts from just the other day and a few weeks ago that contradict what they're professing.
Based on a long past of having a bad rep, I don't think I'd work for them, because it's my experience, that if they have done it in the past, they could potentially repeat that pattern. Do I really want to set myself up like that? Hmmm, it's not something I want to look back on, kick myself in the butt and feel the fool.
I'm curious to know how many notaries come up when you put your zip code in. Could it possibly be slim pickins and they HAVE to take care to not "bite the hand that feeds them."
How many times have some of us been told the same thing by companies that say that? One company in particular that proclaims to be "fast"-based on the name of the company-has stated so; however per fairly recent posts that is "Au Contraire."
Sorry to be cynical, but, IMO, anyone who's NOT, in this day and age, is either gullible, naive, innocent, unsuspecting or maybe just good hearted people that want to see the best in everyone. Unfortunately for the latter, it's just not realistic, IMO, in this day and age and in the way we work our business (no face to face contact, no office to go visit-and collect our promised and contracted fee for services rendered, etc.) Those are not bad qualities and they are certainly not meant in a derogatory, defamatory way. I think that's how we are all born, unfortunately, life experiences made me that way...lol...not PARANOID by any means, just cautious.

Must be a coincidence... I just returned a job
to them an hour before your post, siting their poor history on this board and others. I did offer to do it if prepayment was made, but Keith turned me down. Then he asked if I wanted to be placed on their Do Not Call list.
Trying not to burn any bridges, my response was for him to call again when "there has been ample evidence that your payment practices have changed for the better". Time will tell if KCG's experience will prevail.

I respect what you did, good for you. He never addressed
the issue just doing what a bully does, threaten. Yes time will certainly tell. Thanks for the post and letting us know. Looks like there Do Not Call list just might be the list of notaries they don't plan on paying. IMO

If you read past postings, AFA has said this exact same thing before - that they have a new payment system in place and everything will be fine from now on. Except until it isn't.
Several past postings, including those from a company representative himself here on NotRot, demonstrate a very arrogant attitude on AFA's part towards notaries.
Personally, they are on my "do-not-answer" list when they pop up on caller ID.
