Another Tale from the Table...

Couple in early 50s, just married a month ago. Mrs has like 9 names on the AKA Affidavit; former marriages, hyphenated names, and names with just first two initials.

She's signing away on the various variations, when the husband points at one of the names and says, "Who the hell's that?". Turns out one of the names that showed up on the doc was a former marriage from about a dozen years earlier that she had not yet gotten around to mentioning to her new spouse.

This generated a bit of conversation at the table, such as "What else haven't you told me?". Fortunately, we were about done, so I bade farewell and left them to their own devices.

This was a first, although I've had a few instances when a charge account showed up on the 1003 that the other spouse didn't know about.

One time I signed a woman who I guessed was in her 60's, but looked glamorous, slender, and in good health. Her boyfriend, the co-signer was not there yet. She wanted me to hurry up and get her information in my notary book because she didn't want him to know how old she REALLY was. Now I was curious and paying attention. She was born in 1936, but certainly did not look it. When her boyfriend showed up, I noticed he was very handsome, and born in 1963. I wondered how long she had been keeping it a secret. (The both had plenty of income too.)

Jmnsho, CJ - Women of a certain age object to such

silly scruitiny.

As the Uppity Blues Women belted out, "Age ain't nothin' but a number..."

I've never cared about the milage on the odometer

It's the condition of the paint I'm interested in.

Sounds like you have bought a few odometers ran up the miles and then got rid of them. I'll bet they aren't cheap to get rid of.

No, not really. I've never lied about important things like dying my hair or what shoe size I wear. It's difficult lying about things in the past or behind us.

I've always wondered when a name the husband didn't know about would show up on his wife's AKA Affidavit. It hasn't happened to me yet, but the unknown outstanding charges on the 1003 has.

Oh, those overbearing husbands, demanding to know every last detail about their wive's previous marriages and credit card accounts. There ought to be a statute of limitations on that stuff.

And in answer to Marilynn's question - plenty of husbands have plenty to hide, too. I once had a signing where hubby had to sign a doc indicating he had paid up on his child support lien. This situation was apparently a big surprise to the wife, who, as the husband lowered his head and stammered a bunch, got up from the table, left the room and shut the door. The husband just stared at me, so I quietly gathered up the loan papers and left. (No, it wasn't Schwarzenegger!) Never did hear what happened (with the loan).

What you don't know won't hurt you!

I haven't told my wife everything...because I forgot it too!

I do however practice telling her the truth because I'm too lazy to try to remember the lie....32 years and counting...before that, doesn't count! ROFL!

And what you don't know can.....

....k*ll you too! I'd want to know about my new spouse's ex's.....what if that ex was a total loon in a pyscho ward and escapes (Michael Myers - Halloween - comes to mind)? Or a bitter, malcontent stalker who slashes or leaves black roses on the front porch, etc. Ya never know....hmmmmm!!

Take the list with a grain of salt

One list showed Trenton NJ as one of the cities.. OMG are they kidding it's one step above Camden or Newark. Only people who live there that are rich don't declare the income and carry a gun.

North Jersey, and Central Jersey have always had some of the highest income levels in the country.

I've been to San Fran and San Jose, nice areas but you have to step over all the homeless people on the sidewalks and parks.
