Looking for some advice on how to deal with this company.
Last Wednesday I received a call asking if I was available to do a closing this week. I was away from my computer and couldn't check the company here first before agreeing, but work has been slow so I went ahead and said I would do it. I was told I would receive an email that afternoon with details and other information.
I did not receive any email last week, and I had almost forgotten about it. However, and email did come this morning for a signing tomorrow morning. 24 hours notice is reasonable, so I am not complaining about that. Looking up the company on here though, the reviews are pretty awful. This is my first time dealing with a company I didn't know, the others I work for were recommended to me by other notaries I know personally.
I think the fee they are offering is reasonable, but if they don't pay (as the reviews warn) then that isn't fair at all.

No, if they don't pay then you will not be very happy. If their reviews are not what you would want to happen to you, then politely beg off, stating exactly why.

They will then tell you how they have a new bookkeeper, new accounting system, new management, new computer, etc., and how that really translates is: they have new cars, less business with less cash flow and they do not want to lose your money.

Make your decision and stick with it. Remember, no decision is still a decision.

I went ahead and did the closing for them. I will update and rate when I get paid.

Donna Nelson is the ladys name who "owns" this company. I am telling you now that this company is not the one you want to do business with. I have been lied to on many occassions regarding payment, saying they've moved, new lady in office, etc....It took me sending a 30 day demand letter for her to shake loose of the money and it was already 35 plus days late. I have saved the emails that I received with all of the excuses. I will be more than happy to forward this to you. Also, beware that they want to charge $20.00 for a background check. Dont let them do it. You've already been checked by the Secretary of State in Texas.

As for the fees, they low ball you. I found that out the hard way. Dont take anything less than $100.00 from anyone.

She called me on 1/3/12 to ask me to do another closing but I said I wouldn't until I got paid for my first one that was completed 11/15/11. I received the check for that today, dated 1/3/12.
I was glad to do the first one for her and get the experience, but I can't keep working for her that cheap.
