MI notaries, what are you thinking?
Notaries in SE MI. what are you thinking on the fees you been grabbing up. These past few wks. my email and phone has been ringing for signings for $30, $40. One for $30 on a Saturday. I told the person no way. There reply was its for Chase. I told them my fee. No call back but someone obviously took it. Same on the low fees over email. There snatched up a.s.a. they hit the email. Come on Notaries, with gas prices alone your not making money and your blemishing the Notaries who worked hard over the yrs. to get fees close to what one should be paid.

Same for Virginia! They can't be making any money on these loiw fees so hopefully they won't last long in this business.

Sandra, I just met a young VA notary a couple of weeks ago who charges $75 and she goes to DC (has a DC commission) and all over northern VA. I told her what I charge, which is significantly more. She said she gets all her biz from her listing on XYZ - she had never heard of NotRot.

In my area they are accepting $50-$60. I'll sit home first and enjoy life! As for XYZ I had a listing with them several years ago when I started in this business and received zilch from it - waste of money. Crazy people in every profession

Sandra, I sent one your way about a week ago for PenFed Title - I think it was for Ruckersville.

Thanks but couldn't meet my fee. That area is approx 75-80 miles round trip - can't do for $100-110. Don't know what you're paying for gas but it's $3.30 a gallon and a good hours drive each way for me.

I've never been offered those fees nor would I take them.
Who was offering $30 for Chase? PM if you like.

Re: Nothing exclusive to SE MI, by any stretch.
I happened to check out Craigslist earlier today. Not saying that's a bad place to advertise, but... There were 2 notary public ads. One titled "Notary Service Public" offering 24 hour service, and the other listing hours when people could come to the home.
Given that apparent level of professionalism, it's no wonder the offered fees are what they are. So many don't know what's involved, especially in Oklahoma where there is no formal training available. Most people don't even realize there's a State statute defining the position.
Sorry. Frustrated this week. Had to vent.
