Nations Direct - slap in the face!!!
scheduler: we have a reverse closing on Tuesday in your town. There are no fax-backs and docs will be overnighted.
me: I can do it, but my fee for a reverse is $xxx.
scheduler: (laughing) I'm sorry we can only pay $40, there are no faxbacks, can you do it for that?
me: no, my fee is $xxx
scheduler: are you sure?
me: Yes, you will have to find someone else.
scheduler: We will just find some other {fool} notary to meet our fee.
hangs up.
Are they serious? A reverse mortgage for $40!!!!! Who are these notary {fools} that are accepting $40 reverse mortgage closings. I have taken 2 different reverse mortgage certifications and have had a friend that does the counseling go through a mock-counseling with me. And I have never had a reverse that is under 1 hour. Good luck with the $40 notary.

I also received a call a while ago for my town for today. 65.00 edocs and not a penny more! I had to pass. 30 minutes later a got a call from a 4.5 star SS for [e-mail address] at the very same time.
You guys want to keep supporting LOW BALL SS and one day all the good SS will go under or will start offering LOW ball fees too.

You should have told the scheduler you don't accept unfair fee arrangements and that you are a professional NSA and they should call back only if they need professional services.

I agree with that since Nations Direct is being paid $300.00 per closing. There $60.00 offer with fax backs is a joke.

I got a call today too! $50 signing $20 edoc's.
I said, I'm sorry, I don't do $70 closings. She didn't even bother to ask how much...lol
They underbid one of my most precious and favorite SS's. They really screwed her out of business (AND AN AWESOME PAYING SS I MIGHT ADD!) So I wouldn't work for them no matter WHAT they offered me!
And THIS is the frkn problem with (what did someone say earlier?) notary's *FOOLS* keeping the low balling companies in business. The reputable, good paying companies are getting pushed right out.
We have the power to STOP IT!!! ugh, don't take their business or their money, I don't care how desperate you think you are. Please let's stick together on this.
I'm not asking people to price fix (omg, I know THAT'S coming), but we can all set our STANDARDS, dammit! Geesh!!! Put the low ballers outta biz!

While I wish every company would offer a fair fee
The sheer amount of people available to do a signing is unreal and only a small percentage read this board, plus other factors could play a role like keeping food on the table, roof over there head and maybe something for the holiday season.
Hey I had a local notary offer me 50 dollar edoc loan last week, after the shock went away I said good luck finding someone for that fee, I bet they did.
My feeling is let them take the work and wait while I make good money for my time.

Re: While I wish every company would offer a fair fee
I recently met a nice young woman who is doing loan closings for $75 including edocs, and she is willing to travel fairly far for closings. She had never heard of NotRot - she gets all her biz from her listing on the XYZ site.

And IMO here's one reason the fees are dropping like a
brick - I refer you to Msg #403355
now THIS makes ME sick.

I get calls from them almost daily HOWEVER I may do 2-5 a month for them because YES, my fee is NOT 40.00 Who can do it for that? It cost 20 in gas.. when a closing is 30-45 miles away thats like saying WILL CLOSE FOR FOOD....
