Servicelink
Well to all you notaries out there who are getting calls from service link, well they want all cash deals at $45.00 and edocs $35.00 these guys get paid like $350.00 on hud and we get paid that amount. Well I officially told them no thanks with gas, printing and time it's just not worth it to me. $45.00 on BOA loans also include fax backs. And if you get a really difficult borrower that's 2 hours no thanks. I'll pass. I told them today I'm excluding myself from the closings.

Anyone who works for SL now is crazy desperate
Unless you are one of the few who can still get 100 bucks or out of them. Just to many notaries around here for them to pick from and some fool is out there driving 20-40 miles for 50 bucks.. Have fun.
Find a Title Company make real money and you will never look at Service Link again.

Agree ME/NJ. Haven't worked for them in years, my first time was a pure disaster both for the signing and their paying me. Would give up my Commission before I would accept anything from them.

this is an email received from ServiceLink today....
"Good afternoon Molly, I have received the rest of the documents that were missing; however I was in review of your fees and it seems that your fees are too high. ServiceLink is now only allowing the max amount of a base fee of $55 and for e-docs $10-15. I need to know if you are willing to come down on your price? If not ServiceLink will not use your business and will find other notaries in them counties to do the closings. If you could please contact me back letting me know what you want to do I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Chelsea Newman Vendor Management"
Personally, $70 for edocs, time, ability, etc...is an insult. Even if they shot ten jobs a month to me....it wouldn't be worth it to me since I am getting double that for other single signings.
How absurd. Molly

Yep, same here
SL is one of the only companies that I will still work for... pays my fee (XXX) and pays it fast.

Here also ...
they meet my ($XXX) fee and pay within a week.
Only issue I have with ServiceLink is that they only call me for NYCB e-signings.

Servicelink & Independent Contractors ...
YOUR FEE is what you set as an independent contractor to cover all your business expenses, taxes (including Social Security and maybe a dollar into your IRA for retirement) plus a net profit and/or "salary."
ServiceLink's FEE OFFER, as a potential customer, is what it is willing to pay based on the what the market will bear in your area.
Result: An area with even one NSA willing to work for less than minimum wage or at a lose to obtain "new" business results in low offers ($35-50) and no business for those above that "line." As stated in this thread, areas where the Customer agrees to meet Your Fee is a better market be working in than a how-low-can-we-go market. Sadly, you are in an area where your competition has the ability to reduce fees to accept work at what reads like unprofitable margins (or maybe printing documents on the full-time employer's dime and time and not declaring this as income to the IRS and state = risk v. financial reward).

Servicelink meets my fee and always pays on time. If everyone would set their fee and hold we would not be having this discussion. If I can't make a profit I may as well stay at home.

Well put my friend. They will only pay what the market will accept. EVERYONE knows that $45 - $55 is a slap in the face. When they called me I called back to RAISE my rate. They said they couldn't do it and I should consider the volume. I declined. Just a reminder for me to get in gear and start scouting new companies.

Re: Servicelink - One bridge I wouldn't be so quick to burn.
I work for service link with no problems. They sent me the same email regarding fees and I sent them a reply politely declining their offer and letting them know I will remain available if needed in the future at my current fee. I did 10 for them last month. Rarely do I get a BOA closing from them and they always pay me extra for the fax backs.
When they are busy, they call on the one's they can rely on, IMO.

I agree with you Riley. I just stick to my fee and they do use me when they need me at the rate I didn't budge from. I am not getting the volume I used to with them, but I am still making a profit when I do get their business and I like getting business.

Ok, here is the deal. They are calling all notaries asking them to lower fees to $45-$55 then $15 for edocs. This is the same fee regardless if you are traveling 5 miles or 30 miles. Now to all the signing agents who are agreeing please stop and look at your expense versus income for those closings. Remember GAS, VEHICLE WEAR AND TEAR, INK, PAPER, TIME, OFFICE EXPENSES (ELECTRIC, PHONE, ETC...), YEARLY FEES FOR YOU TO DO YOUR JOB, ADVERTISING (IF ANY), DAYCARE (IF ANY), 30-40 PG FAX BACK, TAXES. So now how much are you really walking away with? Nothing!!!!! I have worked with them and NationalLink for over 6 years, i was floored when they called me asked to do this. However, NationalLink isnt following suit yet. Hopefull they won't.

Re: Servicelink- they are not calling ALL the notaries
I have never been asked by Servicelink to lower my fees. As a matter of fact they raised my fee two months ago without my asking. They send me 10 or more signings a month and I get a check like clockwork on the 23rd of each month. They have been one of my best companies for the past five years.
They occassionally ask for a large faxback and pay me for it. I wouldn't be to quick to bad mouth this company. I have worked for them for 7 years and they are one of the most consistent.
