Very odd pricing structure from vendor

Not Service Link, the other related one - National Link? they called me today, yes, I can do, I want $xxx. Oh, we don't pay but $100 (low end) if it is less than 10 miles. Like, she thinks she knows how far I have to travel? Zip to zip might be less than 10, but me to them may be more. Oh, rush hour - that means I sit in traffic drumming my fingers in extreme aggitation for 30-45 min. for those possible less than 10 miles. What makes them get mileage as a factor in their pricing? Just to see how low we can go?

I have never worked for them in the past - I am not signed up with them either. Told her to keep looking....

You need to state on your profile that you work for XXX up to 30 miles one way (or whatever you want to travel). If it's 2 blocks away, good for you, if it 29 miles, still the same. That's the way it goes...Have a flat fee

I do have a flat fee - I do not discount EOM unless I have a stellar client. Oh, wait, my stellar clients already pay more than that, don't fuss, don't try to talk me down, etc.

The point of the post is that the SS wants to pay less for less than 10 miles. 10 miles can, at times, take up to an hour to navigate....and that was the time slot she wanted, in a zip code that would be difficult navigation. EOM, no, no, no. I need the better paying clients not someone I've never worked with to gobble good time for low pay. These schedulers do not understand our driving conditions.

I think it depends on the scheduler? I had a recent call from someone I did 5 for last month. Can you? When/where? (afternoon/close) Yes. Your fee? To you guys I’ll give a discount only $110 Smile! Long silence..What about overnight you charge $75 for that? No for overnight my minimum is $85 and that’s across the street. Okay so $85, and if there are fax-backs we pay an extra $10. Are there fax-backs? Yes, only critical docs. Okay I usually do that gratis…but. So $95 for overnight and then $25 if it’s e-docs? (By now I’m about ready to just say forget it call someone else, but no it’s really a good company pay off the HUD at closing) so I say okay. She says so you’ll do it for $120? I say yes…this time only for you…She says thanks! I’ll send you a confirmation.
Go figure?

Goes to show how well they listen to those of us who actually do the work. Congrats on the $10 tip.
