A Clark County grand jury has returned a 606-count indictment against two title officers on allegations they falsified documents, the Nevada Attorney General's office reported Wednesday.
Gary Trafford and Gerri Sheppard, both residents of California, are accused of directing and supervising a robo-signing scheme that resulted in tens of thousands of fraudulent documents being filed with the Clark County Recorder's Office between 2005 and 2008, Chief Deputy Attorney General John Kelleher said.
They are being charged with offering false instruments for recording; false certification on certain instruments; and notarization of the signature of a person not in the presence of a notary public.
The indictment alleges that both defendants directed the fraudulent notarization and filing of documents which were used to initiate foreclosure on local homeowners.
The state alleges that notices of default were prepared locally, and that the defendants directed their employees to forge their names on documents, then notarize the signatures they just forged.
The default notices -- the first step in the foreclosure process -- were allegedly forged locally to allow them to be filed at the Clark County Recorder's office on the same day they were prepared.
(BTW, in CA the type of notary fraud referred to in your link is a felony, not a misdemeanor as in NV).
