weddings

The other day I got a call from a lady that wanted a beach wedding and we agreed on Sunday the 20th at Hollywood Beach, Florida. Friday night I get a call asking me can I do it Saturday instead. I said I could if it was local. However, they really wanted a beach ceremony and I couldn't make the trip there so I offered to get them another notary to perform the ceremony. I called several notaries that were within a five mile distance but they turned me down flat did not care that it was a military person. I also thought I was doing something nice and called some of my venues an got a fancy golf resort to donate their venue that they usually charge thousands of dollars for. FREE I mean WOW!!!! I told them I had to check with the couple, but I nearly fell over when the couple turned it down flat. I had to call the venue and tell them...i was so embarrassed. I still wanted to make this happen for them so I proceeded to call other notaries to try to find one that would do it for them at the 50.00-75
00 fee that I was going to charge because it was a military discount. I finally found one that was going to be doing a wedding on the beach and could fit them in but the bottom line is the Marine said he is going to blast me on the internet and he insulted me on the phone after I spent all morning trying to make their day even if it wasn't with me as an officiant. The notary that agreed to do just happened to have gotten a call from the groom a few minutes before I got to her and she told me she was able to help out. They weren't even going to call me to tell me. Well I just had to vent. I don't know why I bother. I am not going to let this couple mess with my head. I will still help a military person make their day special regardless of this selfish one.

Sorry, I think I missed something. What was he perturbed about when all you did was try to help?

oh, in my venting I didn't mention that the groom was very ungrateful and angry because they were looking forward to me officiating. Staff Sargent was very rude and disrespectful to me on the phone. He did not realize I was calling people finding him a generous notary or officiant. Long story. But I can see why people get cold hearted sometimes.
