So I did some extensive research and came across a website called extortionletterinfo.com. Great information on how to handle this and a NY Litigator has offered his help in dealing with these matters.

A previous post on this site Msg #374304 was dealing with the same issues.

Thanks for posting this valuable info. When I was faced

with this I thought it was a "shakedown" tactic & so did my ins. co. Unfortunately, they also
had me. I was fortunate enough to have business liability insurance to cover it, but it still irked me that they would make their money that way! :-(
