Flex Closing
Any comments on Flex Closing aside from the low pay? Any problems getting paid?

They pay promptly, they however are big on micromanaging. They contract with huge settlement agencies, hence the fees are watered down. They've spent a lot of money on web development to manage notaries' downloading, reporting, etc. I've put them in my spam folder. Not worth the frenzy involved in working for FLEX.

In my area they offer $70 w/edocs (110-130 pgs) & faxbacks. I'll pass.

I agree. They recently cut their fees to $70.

Pay no problem, but they require faxbacks
So far no problem with getting paid. As you noted, it is on the low side. Read their pay schedule carefully, they do have a set timeframe for cutting checks. One "nice" thing is that they will send an email after your check has been cut. Also hand-holding - before you can get into their system to set up your profile/settings, or for announcements about changes to their system, there are videos that you have to watch. No watch the videos, no advance to the next step.
They use email notification about closings, and those notifications show where (address plus their mileage estimate), and what they pay. From those emails you can accept or decline. And they send out a second when the assignment is no longer available.
They do require faxbacks, which have averaged 10-19 pages. And they insist that the docs be dropped same day so title can get them next day. HOWEVER, when I explained that the assignment they gave me was in the opposite direction from the closest Kinkos, would not be done before pickup time at Kinkos, and no way was I going to make both faxbacks and overnight before drop-dead time, I was able to get a waiver for faxbacks. But they made sure to emphasize that it was a one-time waiver.

Re: Pay no problem, but they require faxbacks
Yes, the micromanaging was incredible. I worked for them for a short while a couple of years ago during a dry spell. I found them to treat their notaries like a commodity. Don't expect them to ever back you up if you ever have a conflict with a borrower or client. There wasn't much "Flex" when it came to dealing with unusual situations. The flexibility is expected to come from us, but in my experience, they don't bend when it comes to supporting their notaries.
I had one situation (the last straw) where I accepted a late call, but I couldn't reach the borrower. I was assured by them that the appt was confirmed ("we just spoke to him") and that I should print and go anyway. I got to the location and he wasn't there. I parked under a tree (mid-summer) and made a bunch of phone calls. They said to keep waiting, eventually reached borrower who said he was on his way. And the minutes kept ticking by...
Every time I called back, I was told not to leave and assured that they would "take care of me". I usually operate in good faith with my clients, but it was a mistake on that occasion. After waiting in the heat for about 45 minutes, the borrower eventually arrived (said he got stuck in traffic - although he didn't work that far away) and I completed the assignment.
How did they show their appreciation? I may have received a peremptory "thanks", but not a penny more. Shortly after that, they called with a "exciting news" for their notaries, which was basically a new client that afforded us more opportunity to fill up our calendars with unprofitable work.
I sent them a nice long email letting them know what I thought of their business plan and proposal for more "work". First time I basically proactively fired a client (although not explicitly - but I knew that would be the result) and it sure felt good!

This is the only company that I have ask to delete my name from their database. Not worth their huge packages and fax backs for their ridiculous 82.00 dollars. I wonder how much they if they ever pay something for a no sign.
