OT: Smartphones

I'm not usually one to jump on the bandwagon when a new smartphone becomes all the rage (i.e. the iphone 4), especially since it hasn't been a year since I upgraded to my Blackberry Style, which is probably ready for the Smithsonian at this point. However, I am getting curious about the iphone 4 and wonder what so great about ANY of the iphones. A coworker has the new iphone 4 and was demonstrating it's voice activated feature - asking it all kinds of questions and the phone answering back. The coworker asked the phone this question: Where can I dump a dead body? The phone answered with a list!! YIKES!! The list being: garbage dump, a field, freeway underpass, metal foundry, and a few other places I cannot think of offhand.

Reminds me of the Twilight Zone episode where the computer (room size) fell in love with the programmer! Are we at the beginnings of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines where computers think for themselves and eventually take over and wipe out mankind?

My son was having a conversation with "Surhi"...She answered all types of questions, a few she couldn't or wouldn't give answers to...seems sad that intelligent beings have been reduced to this....intelligent being a relative term! lol

DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT buy an iJunk..... Now a lot of people get mad at me when I say that the iPhone is crap... well it is.. I had the DroidX for months and when Verizon made the big hubub for the iPhone 4 I went and like all the other sheep I bought one. Needless to say I took it back a week later and Hugged my Droid X. Now I'm a techie and the iPhone does have a smoother interface on "most" apps but it lacks in other ways and really limits the user. I am all about freedom and if you choose iPhone over a droid you're brainwashed like all the other cattle... Apple is doing to the iPhone what they've done to all their other Breakthrough products.. and I say that with all gratitude and respect.. they limit the user and make you feel like your part of a cult. A lot of free apps on Google market(Android) are paid apps on the iPhone.. you can't save audio clips from an mms message, there are lot of things that apple refuses to do because they are aholes and want things programmed the Apple way point in case " Adobe Flash" adobe flash cannot and will not conform to apples coding So therefore no Adobe flash.. My prediction especially since Steve Jobs is gone that the iPhone will be a small limited niche product in the next 4 years... """"" APPLE "Great Innovation, Poor user control and customizing"

Let me get this right.. " make you feel like your part of a cult." Well if everyone did what you said, wouldn't that be the same thing?

BTW what did you say was the name of your phone? Not the one you bought of your own free will but the one you put on the market.

Re: OT: Smartphones & Terminator 3...

... when I hear references to 'The Cloud' or 'Cloud Computing' or 'Storing your Data/Pictures/Whatever in the Cloud' well, they've got it wrong. It should be called what it is, the beginnings of 'Sky Net' , the computer network that took over the world (& wiped out the dunderheads!) as presented by our former Govinator . Me? I use a Droid X, none of this IPhone rot.
