Servicelink
Just received a call from Servicelink asking to adjust our fees. I am assuming that means lower. I told our fees were already as low as we can go and she said she would note our file. I guess that means no more assignments from Servicelink. They used to be a mainstay.
Any comments? Did anyone adjust their fees??

Re: Servicelink..."our"?
The reason I said our fees is that there are more than one notary in our company. Therefore, our fees are set by "our" company.

NationalLink called the other day. I said they already get my discounted fee. No more adjustments. I too feel there will be less calls coming my way.

I received an e mail the other day from their affiliate "Power Link" asking me to adjust my fees for cash deal closings to $45. I told her I could not afford a pay decrease. She responded that they would note that in their data base. I still have not rec'd a call from Service Link but do not receive as much business from them as I used to.

They've been calling us for months. I didn't lower my fee, I don't get a whole lot of work from them they've never been my mainstay. It will depend on the amount of competition in your are if they back off calling you.

I received a call from ServiceLink in June asking me to reduce my fee. I told them that I hadn't heard from them in so long I thought they bit the dust. I was told that they had been using someone else in my area that was a lot cheaper, but they were experiencing a lot of errors. I was told that if I reduced my fee, I would be moved back to the top of the list. I reduced it some, but pointed out the quality of my work and the fact that they had never seen an error from me. I've not received a signing since. I got another call last week asking me to reduce my print fee. I told them I've gone as far as I can go, and pointed out that as our costs are rising, they are asking us all to reduce our fees. I used to get a fair amount - and fair pay - from them, but it's been nearly a year since I've received a signing from them.

It's been a while since I have received a signing from them too. They called me a little bit ago asking me to reduce my fees also. I said no can do.
This Friday around 7:45PM they called me for a signing about 70 miles from my home! I asked why and they said I was the first on their list. So I told them my fee for that far away signing (much more than my fees that they have listed...) and they said they would get approval and call me back. They never did.
And I'm sure I don't make very many mistakes (if any!)...I had a very good teacher! Right, Anita?

I have worked with ServiceLink since 2000, when I first started doing NSA work. I have lowered my fees for them three times. They have been a consistant source of work for me....The last time I lowered my fee was in July. Since then, I have seen a steady DECLINE in business from them. So, this weekend, I typed a letter to them stating my fees would increase as of November 1st. If I am not going to get much work from them, it might as well be at my regular rate.

Servicelink and others...it's just business.
Just as we all have a right to set our fees accordingly so do all these different companies. Even with the ever evolving "standard fee" I continue to notice more agents are appearing on NR in my area. And they're not all unprofessional rookies either. So yes, there will always be someone else willing to accept the lower fee because to many it's the "standard fee". Ignorance can be bliss.

If you drop your fee to 'be competitive' in your area...
I will guarantee that you will receive a week's worth of work... during which time 'they' are calling all the other notaries in your area trying to get one of 'em to drop fee and 'be competitive'. Some fool will bite. It's a never-ending reverse auction because they've learned to game us.
