UPS
Today I was charged for a UPS shipment that was marked to bill receiver. Visa is removing the charge. The purpose of this post is to advise everyone that the charge was $53.95 for returning the documents. Service link is balking at paying a $25.00 print fee for e-docs when it costs $53.95 to return the same documents to them???

No..it doesn't cost them that much...they get a HUGE
discount for volume
The law firm I worked at in CT used to get a discount through the Bar Association - packages cost maybe $9-$10 to return - I'm sure a company the size of SL, or any major title company for that matter, probably gets an even better break.

Shipping doesn't cost that much. They have a fee (a lot
like the banks) when they have to bill it back to you. Instead of calling Visa, you should have called UPS to have them remove the charge. They will bill you for it otherwise.

UPS
I did call UPS. I have had this happen before. Many times. I know they get a discount but I thought it was about 50%. Anyway it must be great since they insist upon using UPS

One TC I work for told me their contract was for $6 per
envelope to be returned (fedex or ups).

Been posted many times, but we don't know what we're talking about.

You really need to read the fine print "sender will pay costs if refused by receipant". They will send you to collections & report it to the credit bureaus if you don't pay them or get the company to pay them.

Adrienne McDowell, Affordable Notary Services, did the same
and I was billed for the shipping charge.
Adrienne sent a handwritten, self-addressed shipping label for me to return her documents. She provided a fraudulent credit card number on the air bill, causing the shipping charges to be billed back to me.
I thought I had figured out every single possible way that slippery little weasel could get to me financially, but I was wrong. She listed me as the shipper, I have an account, and they were able to locate my account by my name or address and reversed the charges.
So, for the record, don’t list your name as the shipper; don’t use labels provided by UPS. Your account number is encoded in the bar code, even if the air bill is blank; always pick up blank air bills from the drop boxes or store fronts; and, don’t do business with Adrienne McDowell.
It was my own fault---but her day is coming. She’ll get hers. It ain’t over ‘til the fat lady sings.

Re: Adrienne McDowell, Affordable Notary Services, did the same
I am always getting charge back from UPS only to docs I ship to Service Link, I have to disput this every month so I started using blank airbills that I pick up at the UPS store I would put my return information on it, they are still trying to charge me so I what I am doing now is when I fill out the airbill I put where the name goes I write NO NAME where the address is I write 123 E. Main Street (I put East because our Main Street is North and South) then I put my city state and zip code.
Each time they would try to charge me it is over $100.00 they would charge for thing like having to track down my information, or missing information I have even called them having them on the phone while I fill out the airbill and I would still get charged.
I wish all companies would give us the choice to use FedEx or UPS, I have never had problems with FedEx

Ask the Title or Escrow company to sign-up with ShipTropolis.com so you can print UPS and Fedex labels on demand on their account.
1. ShipTropolis.com is secure for the title/escrow company. 2. It's easy for notaries to quickly create labels on demand. 3. It ensures the notary doesn't get wrongfully stuck with the shipping cost.
Disclaimer: I work for ShipTropolis
