Fingerprints can be a PITA!
1. You have to guarantee your work. 2. Regular fingerprints are time consuming and you need to see what the going rate is in your area. 3. Check whether livescan or regular fingerprints are more popular in your area. Live scan could be more of a money maker. 4. You really need to be highly skilled. Free do-overs could be costly to your bottom line.

Fingerprinting
Agreed! I was trained last year. I worked for the Census Bureau and was trained (FBI training manual) to fingerprint other Census Enumerators. Training took a day and the fingerprinting was still a PITA, with many bad cards to being destroyed! It is not easy and, considering that it can be done at local police stations for a small ($5-15) fee and they are experts at it, I think this would be a difficult way to generate extra cash. (I have not had anyone calling me to ask for it, either, and my profile lists it. I honestly don't know what I would have to charge to make it worth doing.)

Re: In the Phoenix area, they charge $10 - $12 in the office.
I charge $20 for one set of ink-rolled fingerprints and $5 for each additional set (but I always roll a second set without charging as a part of my guarantee). The Cop Shops around here only do bio-scan (live scan) so I've been getting quite a bit of business from people who need ink-rolled.
I have a tax office and I do the fingerprinting at my tax office. I often get people who will come to me for tax work after they've met me for fingerprinting. It's working out well.
Could I make a living at fingerprinting? No, but that income along with my mobile notary work, definitely helps out.
