Doc Pros, Murietta, CA

These people are the lowest of the low. Called me last evening at 7 pm for a closing that had to be completed that night. Agreed to my terms but never sent me a confirmation or the docs that were supposedly ready. Gave my phone number to the Title Co, the lender and the borower who all kept calling me for the next hour. Finally Doc Pros emailed me and said that the transaction had been cancelled. Then the borrower had the decency to call me and say that another notary had just called him to arrange the closing.
Doc Pros are not only liars but cheap liars.

That surprises me. Have always good dealings with them. Their pay is decent, not low ball.
I will always accept offers from them.

I agree - that is totally low beyond low! Several years back, I stopped accepting last minute emergency closings, especially when called at 7 PM or later, because EVERY time, and I mean EVERY SINGLE TIME, they end up being a total PITA! And then on top of that, they are usually the hardest to collect on.

My phone rang last night at 9:45 PM!!! I do not advertise 24/7 service, so I feel that is an inappropriate time to be calling for loan signing services.

Of course, I will work with my regular, trusted, and established clients when they have an emergency pop up. In those cases I am happy to assist them with a late evening or last minute closing.

One issue I've had with them besides their BS line of "I'll have to see if I can get that approved" is the fact that every time they call, it's always an "open time".Now I know for some this works out fine, but to me it's pure laziness on their part. They are getting a nice chunk of the fee, but they don't want to bother to find out when people want to sign.Almost every time I take one of these, I encounter problems reaching the signers,or if I do, they are clueless as to the appointment. It usually takes too much time for them to return my call,if they bother to and I won't/can't hold a time open for this type of appointment.
I can't believe people would say sure I/we will sign whenever the Notary is ready, doesn't matter...Not for me...It's usually " we told them we want to sign at x time", which requires me to hand it back due to a conflict, and I've just done their work scheduling for free. BTW, I always have to call to see where my check is too.Needless to say, I don't do too much for them anymore,it's not worth it.Rant over.

I agree - I no longer accept "open time" appointments because that is code for "docs are not ready yet and we don't know when they will be ready, but the lender wants to close today so we need someone who we can lure into remaining on stand-by for us all day and night". So then you are strung along all afternoon and evening, not knowing when or if docs will be ready. This applies to all companies, not just Doc Pros.

I love open time appts...

because you don't schedule till you have docs and in the mean time your schedule is pretty much open, you schedule till you have docs, I love it. You call the borrower and let them know that you will call again when docs are in your inbox.

I hate appt at xx time and then docs never showed up or they are late.

Agree with Calnotary

I make it crystal clear to the hiring party that unless they are paying me by the hour ($50 per hour) to keep my calender cleared, I will not be on standby for free. Their loan signing is tentative until docs are received in my Inbox. In the meantime, my schedule is open to receive solid appts and those confirmed appts takes priority over tentative assignments.

Re: my issue with DocPros

is that they pay 60-90 days out and you have to bug them forever to get hyour money.

I had one with an open time - docs came in at 10:30 PM

That was the turning point when I stopped accepting "open time" appointments. As evidenced with some of the responses here, some notaries can make open time appointments work for them.

Last minute requests and open time are the norm with DocPros

Whenever I see DocPros on my caller id I almost sigh, especially if times are slow. I'm thinking "should I or shouldn't I?"

When I give in and answer the phone it's usually for some nightmare late night last minute signing (one offer at $40 to go 20 miles one way!) for which I wouldn't expect to get payment for 60 days, and that's even with "reminding" them each time. Sorry, I decline.

I totally agree. If you are busy, they make it your responsibility to set this up, which is impossible because you have no idea of when the docs are coming in. Buyers have to plan their time as well as we do. Many "open end" closings get cancelled and then you have to make excuses for the title company. I would rather do a last minute closing with docs ready to go, then sit here with an open closing pending all night and day.

Doc Pros just called me from an UNKNOWN number. I thought it was probably spam, but picked up anyway. In a way, it was spam.
They had a job in the next town over in 25 minutes. Edocs. Offered me $75.
I told her she had a lot of nerve calling me at the last minute and expecting me to drop everything and run out to do their signing...and only offering me $75. I told her not to call me again.
I then hung up on her. Geez...who do these people think we are? I'm not a beck-and-call girl.
