  Doing the right thing....
It all goes back to the Golden Rule.
Got a call this AM to do a signing tonight. Upon calling the borrower, I was told that another notary was scheduled. (Apparently, the signing had been rescheduled from Wed and Thurs.) I asked for the notary's number. I called her two numbers and left a VM. I called back the scheduler and told him the situation. He explained that he tried her and couldn't reach her and they are always under pressure to get the job filled. I asked him to please try the notary again and that if he couldn't reach her, I would do the job. Long story short, he was able to reach her. I felt good about that. What burns me up is that she didn't even call me back to say thank you for making things right!

Don't worry about it! People will follow their own agenda, not yours.
I recently walked a person through the entire process of becoming a notary. then signing agent. I provided info, contacts, my knowledge and offer of mentoring. They will not even respond to my emails or phone calls.
Then again, they could be disappointed with the outcome!
She didn't call you back because she didn't know she should have. That's who we're dealing with now days!

Ummm! I'm going with James on this one when he said: "that's who we are dealing with now days and I hope I am wrong! It is so sad how our society is crumbling...

May I offer another explanation as to why you haven't received a thank you from the other notary? My first thought as to why she was not able to be reached earlier was that she was very busy. If her schedule also included this signing, and she was running like mad, hopefully when it quiets down, she'll contact you.
That's what sometimes happens to me. I'd give her the benefit of the doubt until this time next week. By then, she should have had a quiet moment to contact you. After that, you can bash her if you want.

I think it was Mark Twain who said:
"always do the right thing; it will gratify some people and amaze the rest."
