NSC - Nations Signature Closers, Inc.
A few months ago I posted that they are asking all of their notaries to pay an administration fee of $25. I replied to them that I refuse to pay this fee and do not give my permission to deduct it from my check. I just received my check with the fee deducted. When trying to call them, I keep getting the message "All circuits are busy".
Just wondering if any of you also had this deduction without your permission.

I would think even though you declined the admin fee by agreeing to a closing with the company would automatically generate the deduction.

This was my last reply to them regarding this issue
I have replied in the past. Why should we, as notaries, have to pay your costs of doing business? If we had to pay $25 to every company with which we do business, we would not have any income. WE are the ones that incur the rising costs of printing and the gas to go to our closing appointments. In addition, we are paying a large portion of our fees to pay taxes. Our overhead costs for utilities and every other facet of our business is continually rising; however, our fees are being reduced.
I totally appreciate the business I have received from you in the past, and will be available to help you out in the future; however, I will not agree to have $25 deducted from my fee for my closings.
Thank you and have a nice day!

There was nothing in the confirmation stating they would withhold funds.

Contact Accounting send them your email and tell them they still owe you $25.00. If they don't pay the balance make sure you post it here and SC.

Hmmm... you declined to pay the fee, but they called you and after the signing deducted it anyway. Was there anything... anything at all...on the Order about this? If not (& there probably wasn't as that would mean they'd have to actually DO something), then that deduction is NOT part of your agreement.
Go get 'em, jojo!

I just did my very first closing for this company and nowhere was there any mention of this fee being deducted. I sure hope they dont take the initiative to deduct it....

Heh... sounds like maybe they're trying a whole new batch of notaries they've not worked with before and then just lopping $25 off for their (cough, cough, errrr, ummm) Admininstration Fee. Don't let them get away with this.

Dynamic marketing,...to a specific group. Actually it's pretty ingenious. Offer $125 the lop off $25 for admin fees. Will they do this for every signing? I know they're monitoring this post for sure. IMO

Agree with Lee. Another "We decided to charge you a fee" fee
So, how about some NSA Fees:
Answer the phone fee. Dickering fees. (subject to length of haggle-time) Acceptance of Order fee. Borrower contact fee. Rattling chains for edoc delivery fee. Inevitable late edocs fee. Actual pages printed fee - added to final invoice. Poorly scanned edocs fee. Obscure file extension on edocs fee. Stinky pets fee. Unruly children fee. Obnoxious borrower fee. Lousy Loan Officer fee. Double/triple doc-check fee. Envelope stuffing fee. Drop-off fee. You made me miss my Soaps fee.
All fees subject to change without notice.

Re: DOH! How could I forget that one? Forgot to add a fee fee.
I worked with them for several years getting $$$ per edoc signing. Many times went above and beyond...then no calls...or only a few...after many calls to them, they reveal 2 others in my area are charging $20 less....no loyalty here..they stab you in the back..

Here's one more...
It's the "we're having financial challenges so we decided to take it out of someone else's hide" fee.

JoJo
JoJo,
I got a check from them today with the same exact thing done! I am furious! I responded basically the same way you did twice over the past few months stating that I will not be paying their fee and if it means less call, then so be it. We could move forward as normal if they needed my services. There was nothing in the confirmation either stating a $25 fee reduction. I am calling them tomorrow to complain and tell them I expect my $25 check. The best part....they barely ever call me for closings! Why would I ever agree to pay their fee? It is slimy and deceptive.

In the back of my mind I recall another company a while back who decided the notary needed to pay a fee to be on their database. It was $47. I remember because it is an odd amount.
Anyway, they charged me for it once after they had called me for a closing. I protested and it was paid to me. However, I really had to watch the next few times I worked with them.
My issue: If they called me, they already have a database with my info in it. Why did they feel the need to charge me to be on that same database?
