  Notaries outside of CA
Why would you sign a certificate like this?:" I certify under Penalty of Perjury under the laws of the State of California that the foregoing paragraph is true and correct"

Other than correcting the venue, I usually sign it as is.
Frequently see them when a CA property is involved or the TC is in CA. All it really says is that I , as a NP properly IDd the signer and they signed the doc, and if I'm lieing , I'm dieing. That is what a do everytime I do a notarization. CA perjury laws are about the same as those of any other state- Making an untruthful statemet under oath is a serious offense. Since I am telling the truth , what is the big deal. Not worth the effort to correct the lauguage. IL NP law is very general as to what constitues an acceptable Ack form

I think the question should be, Why are you asking this
question? As long as notaries in other states (outside CA) do what THEIR state allows, what diff does it make? Not understanding your question. I'm like Bob. Its no biggie in IL. Sometimes I cross it out and sometimes I don't.

  Here is why...
The reason I asked this question is because I keep getting loan docs that have been notarized for other notaries not from CA and they always notarize with ALL the CA verbiage/wording and without striking anything.

  Re: Here is why...
And why would you care? Does this action by others, or these documents effect you personally? Perhaps the verbiage/wordage suits them just fine? Are you saying this is illegal? If so I think I would need more specifics before commenting.

  Re: Here is why...
I don't really care if they do, I don't care what you do Leslie or how you do it, I was just making a comment of why people do it like that, that's it!

  Re: Here is why...
Sorry I guess Im a bit dull today. But what was your comment? I did get the part of you not caring about what I do. It’s the “why people do it like that?” that I don’t understand? My answer/question would be : What does the "forgoing paragraph" say? I guess this a CA notary question, so please forgive me for not understanding, and I withdraw all comments.

I line through/initial because I operate under OR law,
