Paul's website

You will be happy to know that Paul's website is not going to go awaySmile
With Ann's permission I own the domain names and the website.
So the knowledge base etc will not go away.

As soon as I find someone to help me it will be edited to remove Paul's phone number and some of the links (not going to be doing the magnetic signs - at least I don't foresee me doing them)

Paul would have wanted you all to be able to use his knowledge base etc, so the website will be remaining in memory of a wonderful friend and fellow notary.

That's very good news to hear. It's a valuable data base and kudos to you for taking it on.

As far as the signs, there are local companies that will make them for anyone who wants to buy one. However, they will cost more than PAW was charging. He was giving us a deal. Sounds like him, doesn't it?

The guy that was doing the signs for Paul was Joe Portas at
www.knobmeister.com

I think Paul knew him because of the Miata

I think that is a great idea. Paul was always of great service to our community, and now he can continue to be.
I don’t know how much it costs to maintain a web site, I guess it depends on how complicated it is? Still it costs something.
I see on many web sites a place for “donations”. Maybe through PayPal? We all know that you Sylvia are semi-retired and are not exactly rolling in extra dough. I for one would be happy to donate something from time to time just to keep the data base up and running, and I think others that use the site as a source of information would do so too. I don’t have a clue of how one would set that up, but maybe PayPal can tell you how, or some member here that is Web savvy could help?

Les,
The website only cost me $48 for the first year - they had a promotion.
I don't see it is going to cost to maintain it, just the yearly fee.
All I need is someone who can just edit it to take out Paul's phone numbers and put a memorial type message on there. My son in law can probably do it, but it will be a few weeks before he is over here. So, it will stay just as it is for now.

I am semi retired, I was completely retired when I closed my SS, but I have taken over Paul's apostille work. I took the cost of the website and the domain names (there were two - pawnotary.com and eapostille.us which only goes to the Pawnotary.com) out of what I was paid for the apostille work I have already done, so I am fine financiallySmile

You and others here have done so much for Paul’s memory, and family, I for one appreciate all the time and effort you have all put in, to enable us show our appreciation, and I’d hate to see you alone take on any extra financial burden. Just a thought.
Thanks again!

Was a nice thought Les. Paul and Ann were dear friends (Ann still is of course) that this is something I wanted to do. And with me doing the apostilles the website will help me, as soon as I can figure out how to link the apostille order form to my paypal account.

This has been such a learning curve.

This is wonderful Sylvia. I have referred to Paul's site many times and am happy that you will keep it up and running. Thanks so much.

Sylvia, what you need is an html-savvy hottie-not-rotter...

or cabana boy to code 10 characters...plus 10 backspaces....20 strokes and a quick link removal...

I just know that one is going to fly through the air eager for the chance to swat at a little bit of PAW-code.

I just wish I had a minute to do anything, but I'm just about stretched to the max for another month. I am working long hours and rising mighty early.

Re: Sylvia, what you need is an html-savvy hottie-not-rotter...

I had two offers Brenda.
The first one I accepted.
(The second one was from a "cabana boy" in my eyes - and he will probably kill me when he sees this LOL)

That stuff is all over my head!

Thanks Sylvia, I used Pau'ls site and would have been sorry to see all the knowledge go away! You are awesome!

Thank you Sylvia!

I had wondered about the website and hoped someone would take it over who was at least equal to Pauls knowledge. I didn't want it to disappear.

Re: Thank you Sylvia!

I didn't want it to disappear either. When the domain expired it could very well have been taken over by a porn site!!! I wasn't about to let that happen.
Also needed to keep the website up.

Paul and I were very close. When he joined the Signing Registry many years ago it seems, he asked Kathy for a mentor, I was assigned to him as his mentorSmile We have been friends ever since.
