Printing from your smartphone?

Ok so I'm a dinosaur and just finally got my first smartphone. Does anyone know if you "sync" your smartphone to your computer can you print from your email to your home office printer? i.e. If I am 10 miles away and log in to my email from my phone (and get my docs) can I send it to print in my home office? That way when I got in from the last one it would be sitting waiting for me. Thanks for all your answers. (And yes my IT guy is on vaca or- I would be hounding him!Smile)

-H.

I don't think you can you do that, but maybe you could but if you have a brother printer when you get home you will find all your documents in the floor.

Yes I can see that too, very funny. As far as Smartphones? The IPhone has a print option that tells you to select a printer. Perhaps your spec sheet with tell you how if it's not a IPhone.

I don't think my phone does that, but I have been able to forward docs from my email to a provider for printing when I was on the road. I don't do it often, but it really helps when the schedule is tight.

Download "Printshare"

With this android app, you should be able to print PDF docs wirlessly or remotely from your smart phone.

Re: Download "Printshare"

Took a look at this apps requirements. It will read your calendar events and contact data on your phone. They state, "Malicious applications can use this to send your calendar events to other people".
It will also read your SMS messages stored on the phone.

If you use this app and you do not want "bad" people accessing your personal info, do not use your phone for texting, keeping a calendar or an address book. I'm not sure how Google Cloud Print compares to this, but then Google's already got all my info anyway!

Re: Download "Printshare"

The printershare software is from the website http://www.printeranywhere.com/mobile.sdf and is certified to be 100% free from any kind of Adware, Malware or Viruses. It also checks ok on McAfee's Siteadvisor.

If you are near the printer you'd like to send your files to, It's a pretty good app.

Check out Google Cloud Print...

I have used it to print 1-2 page docs, but not anything like loan docs. I believe you need a gmail account to use it.

I am able to print from my iPhone. I have an HP printer with ePrint and it's a dream to print directly to my printer and have a document waiting for me when I get there or to send a recipe home to my husband for him to start dinner.

I would not recommend depending on the printer for loan docs... Paper runs out, the output tray gets filled and starts pushing paper out of the tray and onto the floor. My output tray cannot handle holding 250 sheets of paper without a mishap. Just something to think about.

Re: Oh my Gosh Shelly and Maggie I was able to print from...

This is exactly what I want to do. Is/Are your printer(s) wireless? Did you test this with a small file of mixed docs? Will you and let us know? Wouldn't the printer settings still select paper size? Dual tray assumed.

I have 2 printers for simutaneous printing of docs - if I can eliminate the box on the desk and operate from the smart phone, I would be in heaven.

I don't know that yet, I am printing a BOA loan today and I will try it, my printers are not wireless, you just hit print in your phone after you choose one of all the printers in your office, I have 8 hooked to my 2 pc's 6 laser with dual trays and 2 mfc machines. Google chrome detected all 8, but they still have to be connected to your pc via usb cable.

My hubby's coworker had a Motorola Razor and went to Verizon to upgrade - the store clerks laughed out loud and said, "You still have THIS OLD THING ?!?!?!?!?!

Yes, you can!

I can print, to a shared printer if I have the IP address and the printer is connected to a router. I have an iPhone. I haven't set it up yet, but I love that I can walk into a Fedex office store and print without logging into one of their computers. Opening docs on their computers always feels insecure to me.
