Some notaries are worth $50 a signing

Actually, some should be paid less for the carelessness that I was asked to correct. I did FOUR clean up jobs this week!!!! And the companies paid my full fee for the pages that were signed incorrectly or missed altogether!!!! The borrowers practically gave me a hug. September was my next-to-the-busiest EOM so far this year! Smile

I had 2 this week.

Looks like there is/was a new notary in town.

As I posted yesterday, I had three as a result of unprofessional, low fee accepting, knowledgeable you know who.

1. Notary tells borrower her house is nasty?
2. Notary leaves without picking up the check because she's late for child pickup?
3. Notary shipped back the copies instead of the signed Docs?

All had to be resigned at my fee, not theirs.

***Notary tells borrower her house is nasty***

I don't want to condemn this notary. I want to give her a gold star.

A gold star for what??

There is absolutely no excuse to be disrespectful of the borrower - none...

I would describe it as dishevel but I

would never insult someone in their own home. They could have left or not even entered. IMO

But would you be so uncouth as to say it to their face??

I know I wouldn't. I may not like it but it's not my place to tell them their house is "nasty" or "disheveled" or anything like that..

Cool your jets, Linda

You're blasting off when you really don't need to make the trip.

Of course you don't tell a borrower her house is nasty. If it's bad enough, you arrange for a signing elsewhere. But every signing agent who has been around long enough to know the difference between a jurat and an acknowledgement has been in a situation where they feel squeamish about even sitting down at a borrower's dining table. And every such agent has wanted at some point to tell a borrower to use some of the loan proceeds to hire a maid for a day or two.

Lighten up. It's Friday. Go have a beer, take off your girdle, and scarf down a chocolate or two. You'll be the better for it.

I am exhausted! Which is a good thing! Yes, I will agree a good month end. Only two resigns. RE: fixing someone elses stuff. Hoping all had the same experience this EOM!

Well, you will probably be getting appointments from these companies now and not have to worry about these notaries taking your business.
