Unbelievable Story about NSA

Arrived at a signing last night and the story the borrowers told me about the first NSA that came to meet with them was unbelievable. NSA called to confirm the signing. This property is in the mountains, difficult to find and the borrower emailed directions to her so she could easily find them. When the borrower asked how long this would take, the NSA stated that it would take 2 hour to complete (a Quicken loan). At the time of the signing she called, from the opposite end of town, stating she could not find their home, and asked how to get there. She called three times because she was lost and the last time she asked if they could come and get her, and she also needed gas as she was out and had no money to fill the tank.

Well finally, 3 hours later, they were sitting at their dining table, and they start the signing. While she was filling out her notary journal she handed them the HUD for review. They did not look any further as the loan amount was half what they were expecting, was for a different borrower and property. Can't believe that she didn't review the papers before she left for the signing. I would not have even printed them after seeing that the borrowers were different.

They were so relieved that I was the one to come this time, done in less than an hour, found the property with no problem and the paperwork was correct. This was from an SS that lowballs. They usually don't call me unless they can not find anyone else, as I will not lower my fees. This NSA traveled over an hour for maybe $50-$75, probably will not by paid anything (except a tank of gas that the borrower paid for) due to her lack of experience.

I always google the address before I call the borrower to confirm directions. I have found in this area, gps does not always get you where you want to go. Streets that don't exist come up, and the property for this signing was partially dirt and gravel roads. My home is off the beaten path and I have had friends come up, not asking for directions and get lost, as their gps takes them to a road that does not exist, or a road that is so hard to travel, it would take over an hour from the highway, if they could even drive on them without a 4 wheel drive. I only live 4 miles from the highway, very easy to find, all on paved roads.

A lot of times people will give you the incorrect address because they "think" they live in a different city. Example, when they live Next or on the border of two cities they will choose the more affluent one. They will say they live in Piedmont or Berkeley when they actually live in a city they want to distance themselves from. I google and look at the Deed to verify the address, very often different cities.

i recently had one where one location (address) was listed in two different cities, borders intersected. The third city with the same address was three blocks away. The borrowers/SS gave me the wrong address (city) but I found them anyway.

Yes, Hugh, and if that doesn't work I send up smoke signals.

Was the signing in Crestline?

I cover Crestline but for a premium fee. Crestline is a nice drive on a crisp cool sunny day. So is the drive to Pearblossom from highway 138, though there's not much IN Pearblossom.

Was this a Humboldt County signing? Just curious if this gem of a NSA is in my area. I hope not!

Re: Dont you just love clean up time :)

Those were some very patient borrowers. Waiting all that time, going to meet and pay for gas so the "lost" NSA could get to their house (and home again), and then not even have the right paperwork. Considering some of the other borrower stories I've read, these were angels!

Re: Dont you just love clean up time :)

Yes, you are right, they were very nice and patient borrowers. They did not even complain to their lender as they did not want to get the NSA in trouble. They said they were a bit upset when they realized that the paperwork was wrong, but then the NSA got so upset, they didn't say much more and were just glad that she left.
