Unwanted phone calls

I responded on another form to a Notary who was being stalked by the jealous significant other of a client she had confirmed an appointment with. The stalker was constantly calling the Notary so here's my suggestion for ignoring the following: Telemarketers, deadbeat or lowball companies, freeloading or PITA relatives, stalkers, or anyone else you don't want to be bothered with. Just save their phone number to your contact list and assign it a "silent ring" or a "no ring", whichever your phone has. Also, turn off the vibrating feature for this number. Title the number "NUISANCE 1", the next unwanted number is NUISANCE 2, etc. When they call, you won't even know they're calling - the call will eventually go to voicemail. You'll see you have a voice message from NUISANCE - just delete it. Save the nuisance numbers for at least six months, then delete.

The same person may try calling from a different phone number.....just save that as NUISANCE ____.
Eventually they'll go away. I was up to NUISANCE 6 at one point. They're all gone now - HA!!

If you have an Android Phone, the best way to do this is to go to the individual contact entry and at the very bottom, turn on the "Send To Voicemail" setting. Works like a charm.

My next phone will definitely be an Android phone. I have a Blackberry Style - I have to edit the specific contact by clicking on "custom ring tones /alerts", then go to volume and scroll down to "silent". No hassle, but wish there was a direct "Send To Voicemail" feature, other than turning off the phone.

When I'm wearing my bluetooth earpiece, it will tell me who's calling on the first ring, "You have a call from Nuisance 4, answer or ignore?" If I say, "Ignore", then it goes directly to voicemail.

Can you go into double digits? I'd need to include all my ex-wives.

Come to think of it, there are ex-girlfriends to consider also.

Triple digits, maybe?

There's a product called "privacy manager" that allows you to do that.

There are many phones on the market, both smart and standard that have a function where you can just bring up a menu when the number is showing on your screen and just select "send call directly to voice mail" or some such option without entering it into your phone book. Might be a consideration when choosing a phone.

The point is by saving the phone number, it's not necessary to send it to voicemail. It is pre-assigned to go there. AND you can answer numbers you don't readily recognize and not have to wonder if it's a PITA caller you've been trying to avoid.
