We don't make anything anymore
Ever wander into Kohls, Home Depot, Macys. Just on a review, pick up items in every category, clothing, housewares, tools etc. Every damn item is made in China. For those of you who have not been to other countries, the same situation exists, all European countries. The quality needs a lot to be desired as well.
How did we get to this point? How many American jobs were lost in this long term transition? It's all about labor costs, taxes and "Tariffs" . Why doesn't our government listen to the people, businesses to figure this out, instead of wanting to increase revenue and to hell with cutting controllable costs. Businesses don't have to pay benefits in China. I would rather see our deficit because of cost to fund social security and medicare, than having millions of people unemployed, losing their homes, and an increasing percentage homeless and entering public support. I would also rather see our country invest less in foreign countries democracies, and invest in reducing our debt. This country is very rich in people, technology, culture, and we should be actually making a profit on our investments, rather than throwing money away to unnecessary programs.
Here's your link to tarrifs

I imagine the same problem came with European countries with regard to tariffs and labor.
I wonder what would happen if we increased tariffs on China imports to the maximum, relaxed taxes on businesses who bring manufacturing back to the USA.
