Workmans comp Insurance

How many people in here pay this as part of their contract?

I'm not sure what you mean "as part of their contract", but as a sole proprietor with no employees I am not eligible for worker's comp in Pennsylvania.

Ok. United Financial Settlement services in Dunmore Pa, says you need to carry Work mans com Ins. if applicable in there contract. I didn't think a Notary would need this kind of insurance.

Sounds like a generic paragraph for subcontractors -

operative words: "if applicable."

As Harry said, in PA, it's not.

These are usually the issues covered in Independent

Contractor Agreements. They want to establish that we're not employees & covered under any of their benefits, like WC.
In VA also we can't get WC under a sole proprietorship unless we have employees.

Re: Workmans (????) comp Insurance

If there are any female gender advocates on NotRot, you probably have their panties all bunched up by the use of the term "workmans". That term would tend to exclude women, who also occasionally draw a paycheck -- which is not to say, of course, that they actually earn or deserve a paycheck equivalent to us guys.

I suspect that all the states, confronted with legions of PMSing NOW members, have changed their nomenclature to "Workers" Compensation. You might want to consider doing the same before you are found some fine fall morning on your lawn, strangled by a size AA the wearer shed during the '70s.

Hugh? Have you done lost your mind or something?

I'm trying to figure out exactly what the point of that message is. I usually laugh like hell at your posts, but this one left a very bitter aftertaste. I'm still shaking my head bewilderingly wondering where the hell the humor is in that.

If you were a Texas-Good-Ole-Boy-Conservative it would be understandable, cute and I may be able to chuckle at it. But you have made it very clear that that is not your position. As you are a self proclaimed liberal, the least you can do is support those liberals that you helped to create.

Whether you like it or not, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt as I believe that you obviously merely had a lapse in judgement.

It's okay to be a grumpy, cantankerous old man (I rather respect that in an "oldtimer"...lmao), but not very nice to spew vomit like that.

Just sayin, my friend, just sayin...

Try biting your fingers instead, Les

It will be more effective -- we can't hear what you say, but we can see what you type -- and more gratifying to others.

This?
I just hope some here have the ability to understand what I post. I now apologize for the many ‘typos’ I have made through the years, I’m a bit dyslexic, and typing surely is not my forte. However it does peak my curiosity why someone that is obviously well educated, and has a full and complete command of the English language with years of journalistic and notarial experience at his immediate command thinks it is appropriate to include in almost every post some comment about his at one time raging libido that always had him in desperate straits with his gaggle of ex-wives or girlfriends? And to always mention the undergarments of these and other female persons? Often throwing in for “spice” comments about his and others genitalia and his/their dressing/cross-dressing preferences? Could this come from an ultra liberal elitist intellectual living in the redneck capital of the world? whereby needing to prove that he too was at one time a testosterone driven ‘good ol’ boy’ rather that an effete ego driven snob that does little, but is critical of all that don’t share his point of view. IMO his screen name says it all.

Les, rather than take up everyone's time with your taunts...

...why don't you PM me, or email me, and let's just exchange barbs between the two of us? That way, you won't burden the other professionals on this forum with your distaste for me, and I won't have to take the time to respond publically to someone who is simply looking to pick a fight.

That would certainly give me more time to spend with my Victoria's Secret catalogues.

Re: Try biting your fingers instead, Les/Okay! Can you see

Les, consider this proof that Hugh is a unique individual, in a class all by himself, and no one should judge any other group to which one may assume he belongs based on his comments.

Most of us know to expect him to insert some measure of humor in most of his posts - and he has set that bar pretty high for himself. No one can live up to that all the time, right? Not even you or Hugh! I admit I found his latest post contradictory (defending women with a misogynistic tone??!!), but I think there was at least some attempt for that to be funny, whether or not it was successful. It did have me scratching my head, though, FWIW. But I don't think your personal attack added value to the discussion - unless maybe you were trying to do a one-up-manship on offensive comments? If so, I'm at a loss to choose a winner...

Re: Try biting your fingers instead, Les/Okay! Can you see

Janet,
First of all I apologize to you if you found my comments to Hugh or in general offensive. I was simply answering his previous posts directed to me. In some I believed he ‘labeled’ me a ‘conservative’? I don’t mind the label, although I don’t know what has to do with ‘work’, any more than “bunched panties”.
I believe I understand that Hugh is truly a unique individual, and I understand that apparently he tries to inject his particular brand of humor into his posts. He likes to play the naughty boy saying provocative things in order to gain some attention. If it wasn’t sad it could be funny. A journalist seemingly without an audience or readership, except for his devoted following here.
Again…this is just an answer to a post that’s my opinion, and has nothing to do with our work.
And Hugh wins! I concede.

Wow! Talk about getting your step-ins in a wad

I raised four girls, most of the time as single parent. I have two sisters. I have enough ex-wives still living to fill out a bobsled (boobsled?) team – with substitutes. Lucy the Chihuahua is obviously female, as is Peeby the Parakeet.

I may be rash. I may be foolhardy. I may even be reckless. But I am not suicidal.

If you think I would risk facing the combined fury of all that female firepower by trashing women, Cheryl, you need to do a reality check.

LMFAO...HUH? I'm starting to worry about you Hugh.

"If you think I would risk facing the combined fury of all that female firepower by trashing women, Cheryl, you need to do a reality check."

Huh? Still shaking my head in bewilderment. Hmmm, maybe you should re-read your post which I responded to. I think I read the English language well, I certainly understand it pretty well, and um, well, what I read had all the makings of trashing women Hugh.

IMO it was degrading and disrespectful! No reality check is necessary. It's written right there for everyone to read.

Joking or not Hugh, some things are just not appropriate in a mixed group. We all know you have a twisted sense of humor, in fact that's what cracks me up some times. But hey, at least have the decency to keep it in it's place, certainly not here.

Now put that bottle of scotch away before you fall and crack your head open.

You can chuckle or chafe.

You prefer to chafe, you'll have to find your own lotion. My preference has always been to chuckle.

I don't believe you need workers comp. incurance unless you have employees.

If you have mail employees you need workmans comp.

If you have female employees you need workwomans comp.
