Global notaries
Just received a call from Global Notaries, asking me to do a signing for $60---I asked if this was a joke..........I couldnt believe with gas at $4.00 a gallon, he would have the nerve to ask me. He said he could go 70---I replied, I get $65 for 15 pages, and you are offering me $60 for 120 pages.....Told him my lowest price was $85. Guess who didnt accept my price? The sad thing is, it was filled, and someone in my area did it for that price.......i don't get it

$85.00? That is still insulting. Think about it, even at $85.00 you will never get paid. The companies who "low ball" you are the worst to collect from. Just do us all a favor, and everyone work for a fair price...at least $100.00 for a refi or lender purchase. Gas, paper prices, toner and time, we have to make that much to live. It's not like we are booked 8 hours a day like most jobs to make a living. I do not see why they just do not pass our fee's onto the buyer. They will pay, and never know the difference. It's part of the closing. Everyone else raises their prices, why do we have to be undercut to make the difference up as not to offend? I don't see the appraisals going down, survey's going down, or the broker's costs, or title companies lowering their rates....they want to screw us, and put more money in their pockets.

I see $3-5,000 in orgination fees to lender and over $1,000 in TC charges and we have to settle for even $100. A very very small piece of the pie and without us they wouldn't get it.

If you decide to accept low fees, and that is anything under at least $100-125 for local closings, you continue driving down prices for everyone. My position with everyone who calls is that I do professional work, no mistakes and take my time. I go over the package prior to the closing as well as after the closing and before sending out. The time spent with the customer is probably no less than 1 hour and in most cases, more. Before I leave the closing I make certain the borrower is well aware of all the terms and understands that I have done professional work. I guess that what I am saying here is that you aren't, "just the notary" as companies like Notary Direct, Global Notary and others like them want to treat you and have you believe. I certainly don't mean to belittle your statement but if we present ourselves like professionals, charge professional fees and do professional work, the hell with all the low ballers and those that accept paltry fees. The signing services and Title companies that offer those fees are greedy and the Notaries that accept those fees aren't professional and that shows in their work and prices they accept.

I work for a few LO here in my town that they always tell that they will never give a loan signing to a SS because they don't really know what type of notary they will hire. I am not a LO either but I would of do the same. They take so many hours on every file and they don't want a 50/75 dollar notary screw the docs.

Unfortunately, most bank owned properties go through a SS. The buyer has no choice, and in Florida, most sales are bank owned. The title company's down here do all their own closings, so very hard to get in with them, as they have their own employees under salary doing their closings.

I've also noticed local title companies have a
stranglehold on the local loan market in my area...tough wall to crack.

Frank, you hit the nail on the head with your statements. This SS service has a fee for$75.00 for overnight docs for refinance and purchase buyer loans. Their fee for E-docs is $100 for a refinance and purchase loans. Do you guys charge $100.00 regardless whether the docs are overnighted to you or you got to print them?
Thanks,
L.
