How many of you are using Chrome?
It has been good using it, but with LSI docs, I am having trouble opening their attachments. I have to go to Internet Explorer to open their attachments.
Internet Explorer was getting to slow for me, and people were recommending Chrome, so I made the switch.

Re: Hate it!
Have been using it for over a year and find it to be twice as fast as IE and 3 times as fast as Firefox.

I agree with you Richard! Why is it faster? You'd think that
Microsofts IE would work faster than Chrome when operated on a Windows system, but nope. Chrome def runs faster! I've started to use it recently, when my son said it crashes less than IE...I was convinced...
But, yeah with LSI docs, and others, it doesn't recognize it?

If IE is slow, then before you decided anything else, do this.
Re-start your computer.
Scan your computer with an anti-spyware program such as Spobot or Malwardbytes or both. One will get things the other doesn't. You can get them at download.com. They will pick up things your anti-virus program won't and they are free.
Make sure you have accepted all your windows updates.
Do you have at least 2gb of RAM? This day and age, you really need 4gb, but for just the work we do here, 2gb is plenty.
While I do play with Google chrome some, IE and Firefox are much more secure.
You may have other issues, however my money is on the spyware slowing things down.

Thanks Glen, I do use Spybot and Malwarebytes regularly but still prefer Chrome. I disagree that IE is more secure than Chrome but feel Firefox may be more secure than both. However, Firefox with all their recent updates is still too slow for me to use regularly. I have 2gb on my Windows XP and 4gb on my Windows 7. I try to clean up both regularly and have been told by my computer man that Spybot and Malewarebytes is all I need.

Thanks, Richard
The only reason I personally believe that Chrome is less secure is that when I do pick up spyware it seems to be when I am using Chrome. If you note when you use Spybot, Chrome is lock out from being scanned. Same results as Chrome when using Safari for Windows also. I also find the same issues when I am at the senior center helping the seniors with their computers. Chrome seems to be the common common denominator here.
I do agree that Chrome is faster than both the others, however if you turn off your anti-virus program, your computer is faster because the data is not being filtered. That's why I like to use my laptop using Linux as the operating system because it doesn't have to do any of that. It blazes! That's also why I like the Apple OS. Unfortunately, Apple computers is not business friendly. That looks like that is changing with the iPad, though. Hope so. Look at it this way. When you filter water for drinking through a filter that takes out all the sediment, it is slow. If you use a cheaper filter that passes larger particles then the water runs faster. Remove the filter and it's a rush. The "data stream" works the same way as the "water stream". The more filtering, the slower. Linux and the Mac operating systems do not need much filtering (yet), so that is why they are much faster on a given system.

I use Google Chrome & prefer it to IE. As to opening attachments, the program that comes with Chrome is really lame. I have to make sure that I open any attachments I get with Adobe Acrobat Reader. As to the LSI attachments, I cannot remember if they deliver them in PDF format or if LSI has their own proprietary format. IF in PDF, adobe reader is preferable to the Chrome reader.; if in an LSI specific format, I have no suggestions.

I just save the LSI attachments to my desktop and open with Adobe.

I am not much of a computer person. My husband did a lot of stuff with my computer and cleaning whatever stuff it had. He asked the computer people, and they suggested Chrome. I had never heard of it only Fire Fox and IE. LSI has PDF attachments, but when I clicked on the attachments, a Chrome message was coming out. If this doesn't work, I guess is time to buy a new computer with more bites to hold everything.
Thank you all, I really appreciate it

You don't need a new computer.
The one I am using right now is my business computer was built in 2005 and still blazes. You just need a tune-up and a clean-up. Scan it with spybot and malwarebytes. You will be surprised. You have to give your computer's operating system regular maintenance just like you do your car.
If you want to use Chrome, then do what Richard suggests. Download the file then open it in the stand alone mode of Adobe. It's what a person should do anyway as it's safer. You do this by right clicking on the document icon and choosing "open with" and then you will get a list of programs. Just choose adobe.

You do not need a browser to open a document. Bowsers are for searching and navigating the net.
