Local Notary lost out
When I went to confirm a signing for tomorrow the borrower said that a women called and said she would be there @ 5:30. I called the company that hired me and asked what was up, since they are a national company and have a contract I will do the closing.
This has happened to me on both sides, in fact almost all of the few deals I have this week are direct hires by the TC and I know they have contracts with SS's because I have let them go through the SS's because I did the app through them.
Sorry Carol P

Maybe one that fell off last week for issues and they thought I would be assigned again? I had a few of those last week unfortunately. I don't know, but everything I have for tomorrow has been confirmed and docs are printed. But thanks for letting me know. I wouldn't exactly say I lost out, I have enough work thankfully.

Even if you have a contract with these TC's, it still does
not obligate them to hire ONLY you nor are you 'exclusive' to them....not if they can find someone cheaper...
...I've learned this, unfortunately, the hard way...

Turns out 2 different loans for same borrower
Saw the other notary pull up as I was leaving today.

One time I was the second notary . . .
They had two loans with two different title companies, so two notaries were scheduled. I showed up as the other one was finishing. As I sat down to put the IDs in my journal, I noticed that the name on the ID did not match the docs and I said I was going to need two witnesses. They said, "Well, it was like this on the other loan and the other notary didn't make us do that". *sigh*. (I did make them do that anyway, of course.)
