Newbie to NotRot needs some abbreviations explained
I've been on NotRot a month or so now, and have been trying to figure out all the acronyms. This is what I think I know: SS = Signing Service TC = Title Company BO = Borrower
Here's where I'm feeling ignorant: OP SC NBS (Non-Borrowing Spouse?) XYZ UPL (Unauthorized Practice of Law?)
I'm fully prepared to be chagrined when I learn what these mean, but please be kind. Thanks in advance, Lania

LaniaR/AL asked about:
OP = original poster (used on many Internet forums, not just notary-related ones) SC NBS (Non-Borrowing Spouse?) I think so. XYZ = a certain organization that tries to get notaries to join and which the owner of Notary Notary doesn't like to be named. UPL (Unauthorized Practice of Law?) Yes.

SC = Signing Central, the tab above here that lists companies and where we rate our experience(s) with them.
You will also hear "link" the profile and "Link" the company. Linking your profile is done next to the author's name in the message box. When it is checked, then people can see who you really are. Link the post is done on the first post, or OP. When it is opened, you will see off to the right of Post and Cancel "link" button. When you click on it, you follow it to messages pertaining to that subject (usually a company). If you are the first to link, follow the directions, complete the link, and viola! - all messages about that company are linked and you can see at a glance rather than having to search laboriously.

Welcome, Lania. You're obviously a good sport & I really
like the TTAFTI! Good one. References to PAW are for a departed colleague/friend, Paul Williamson, who was one of the most informed people who in this industry. He shared his knowledge with us unselfishly. We miss his wisdom.

I miss Paul too! Did he every get snippy, condescending,
nasty or hateful? I never saw it if so. He was a true gem and taught me how much more respected and honored coming from a place of kindness really meant.
When he posted, I listened (read), anxiously knowing it would be wise and accurate information. He made a difference in the world and a select few of us were lucky enough to have been put in his path to be a part of it.
May his light continue to shine, as it certainly lit a part of my heart for sure.
Thanks for the warm memories of an angel sent back home to heaven!!!

Thank you. I do indeed feel welcome in the NotRot community.
Reading the posts about PAW, I'm sorry to have missed knowing him.
It's good to know, though, that it's still possible to find angels among us.
