NotRot Conference?
I know the NNA conference is coming up soon. I am not going. So far, I met a lot of great people here at Notary Rotary. It would be cool if Notary Rotary would create its own conference.

Great idea, but a bit like herding cats - plus, if we're all
there, who'll be signing in our respective "here."
The whole industry might stop in its tracks...

Now there's a thought.
People don't really appreciate 'things' (US) until they're gone.

Way back when, The Signing Registry, (of blessed memory)
had a conference on a cruise ship. Sadly, it was prior to my becoming a member. I believe that some current Notroters attended. i heard that it was way cool. If someone wants to plan it , just tell me where and when. I'll be packed and ready. LasVegas would also be great.

Re: Way back when, The Signing Registry, (of blessed memory)
I was on that cruise. Met Joan Bergstrom there who traveled with her son, James. We are still in touch, wrote a book together, I ended up teaching notary and loan signing classes together, and we still collaborate on a frequent basis. She's the only one I'm still in touch with, but do hear from some others on an infrequent basis. It was a good time, although I'll never spend another dime in Mexico due to cartel activities. I'm so incensed about their senseless murders and poisoning the world with toxic, deadly drugs.
It was a great trip, took an excursion to the vineyards and tasting rooms in the countryside of Ensenada. It was well worth the time and expense. My next cruise will be to Alaska this summer to celebrate Mom's 85th birthday. All of us (5) will be with her to help her celebrate.
It's hard to take time off in this biz for any real length of time. If any of this group decided to meet in Las Vegas (not my favorite place to visit), or Denver, the hub of the US, I would be up for it.
Something to think and plan on....

I was on the SR cruise
We had a great time in Ensenada. Unfortunately, when I got back to Oakland I found out that my mother passed away. I had to turn around and fly to NY that night.

I feel like I know a lot of you already with our communication here on not rot, but would like to meet all of you. I feel like I've made some friends here and would be up for a conference.

Ok. What if we got a National Notary Public Day, and took
that opportunity to meet?
Oh. Right. There aren't any National Notaries. Dang.
Back to the drawing board...

Re: Ok. What if we got a National Notary Public Day, and took
Apparently, there is already a Notary Public Day, though, on November 7th. Below is a link with some more information about it, posted from an early effort at launching a blog for the California Mobile Notary Network:

(The info on that page is attributed to: "Copyright 2009 - 2010©, American Society of Notaries, United States Notary Association and Notary Public Administrators Section (NASS)".)
BTW, there are new efforts underway to launch a real CMNN blog, so more to come...

Re: Ok. What if we got a National Notary Public Day, and took
The Nov 7th date seems to always be overshadowed by whatever local, statewide, or national elections are going on. Would like to see a date with less competition for publicity.
The conference suggestion has been brought up several times over the years. It shouldn't be difficult to put together some programs and get together in some central, inexpensive midwestern city.
Maybe Harry would host us in Des Moines - tax-deductible all around! Got a casino, too, I think!

Some central, inexpensive midwestern city --BOOORING
Des Moines??? Now that sounds like a WILD AND CRAZY spot. --No offense, Harry And BtW, a non stop from Chicago to LasVegas 2,000 +/- miles is about $300 about the same from Columbus and less than $200 from LAX or an easy drive. A non stop to DesMones, 300+/- miles , is about $450, from Chicago, about $500 (1 stop) from Columbus and about $600 (1 stop from LAX and you can get a decent room in Vegas for way under $100/nite . Never been to DesMoines, but you've seen one Days Innj , you've seen them all.

Suppose I should have inserted tongue in cheek...
At Bob's age, he's pretty much already been to Des Moines and points in between...

A voice for the Central Oregon Coast...so many options
with spectacular surroundings. Check out Inn at Spanish Head. I'll be right back with a link, but it's got a long history of Hospitality, with floor-to-ceiling ocean front West Walls.
Picture it: Whale watching - a singular Western seascape - live, and tiding twice a day. So many general-networking-to-focused-events incorporating the local offerings, plus an excellent slate of workshops?
Wowie zowie...<big grin>

Sounds like a great idea!!!! .....
I joined The Signing Registry (miss it) just after their cruise also. I think this is a great idea, and the plus side is that the travel expenses could be tax deductible.

Just got of the Mexican Rivera and it was wonderful, the only down side was the business I lost this week. Either way I'm Ready for another one and the best part I can write it off.

Why not have it in Tampa? Lots to do, inexpensive to get to,
Beaches and Cuban food... It's a win win!
Plus the RNC will have just left so the city will hopefully still be I pristine condition.

Laughlin or Las Vegas, Nevada. Sometimes in October. I never been to Texas. San Antonio would work too.

I think a conference is a great idea.
I would imagine certain places will just make more sense because better financial "packages" will be available... Air/Hotel.. Do you think?
