Not a good start to my day...
Loan signing this morning 1/2 hr away at a $1,000,000 home. Got there and house was surrounded by gardening trucks and gardeners as well as the dog trainer truck and a dog, and lots of people. Couldn't see address because of big bush covering it. Stopped and asked if this was the xxxxx residence. "Yes, just back up and pull into the driveway behind the dog trainer truck" they say. So I did and backed into the owners VERY EXPENSIVE sports car! Good news - no damage to his car. Bad news - damage to the bumper on my Saturn Aura . So... we are doing the loan signing and the wife has to go in 3 minutes to an appointment (we were almost through) so I had the wife sign the rest of the docs we had - she took off - the husband begins to sign the rest of the docs and it occurred to me there was no DOT or Note!!!!! Got on the husbands computer and checked my email link to docs and sure enough the company had not included the DOT and Note with the docs!!! This is a first for me in 9 years with this company.
Yes, perhaps I should've "examined" the docs more carefully but sometimes you just don't have time to do that, as was the case.
I still have another signing to do this afternoon and I have checked the docs - and pray that I get there and back in one piece to do FAX BACKS (YUK!!!!).
Such is life - just had to share. Hope everyone is having a better day.

One time, it was the first appt. of a very busy day. My husband had just had emergency surgery and I am exhausted and stressed. Get there and find out that SS had sent me the wrong docs (for someone else, not one of my other appointments.) Husband starts yelling at me that I "should have checked before leaving my office, etc". I had noticed that the property being refi'd was not their home property but that happens all the time right? It was the start of a very bad day. I do hope that your's gets better . . . much better!

Re: Not a good start to my day... saga continues....
So... go to 2nd signing. Borrower staying in 40 story apartment building. "Guest Parking" undergound turns out to be "paid parking" in one of those boxes you push your $ into (credit cards can't be used), I only had a $20 bill. Went back to my car put my "Notary Public on Official Business" sign on my dash and took my chances.
Called borrower from lobby to let him know I was there - no answer on his cell - left msg I was there and would call his residence. No answer at residence either, so left message I was coming up to his complex. Rang bell - he was on the phone with the bank (my contract was thru a SS) and they said they had to verify he was an employee of the bank so the loan signing may be delayed or rescheduled. Meanwhile, I call SS to see what they know and while I was talking with them he came back out and said it's ok to go ahead and showed me the email on his blackberry that the bank sent that verified his employment with them.
So, we go down to the lobby to do the signing. Concierge at desk waved at me asked, "Are these your keys?". Turns out they were my car keys. So I got my keys and explained to him the parking situation, so he gave me a Temporary Pass for parking (Thank you!).
Meanwhile, Mr. Signer and I are signing docs, complete the signing, and I have 3 missed phone calls from SS and 3 urgent emails from them that the loan is CANCELLED! I called them back and they just said the bank told them to cancel the signing, and this was about 1/2 hour after he showed me the email from them verifying his employment. Good news was that it required faxbacks which I didn't have to do because the SS said to just mail the package back to them with a big note to schedule a re-close.
They apologized and I will get paid for this, of course!
WHAT A DAY ! Time for Mexican food and relaxation.

You have had quite a day (Ive had more than my fair share of those as well) but by the look of your smile, I'm happy to see that you survived it.
I applaud all of us in this field because there is so much before, during, and after work to be completed before we see a pay, but we do it, sometimes with a smile.

Just curious Barbara why you didn't answer your cell
I always answer my phone for a couple reasons. 1. It may be about the signing I am currently in. 2. I don't want to miss another opportunity to work. If we don't answer our phones, chances are they will move onto the next person. Even if they leave a msg, they are going to try someone else to just get it filled. Sounds like if you would have answered your phone it would have saved you and the borrower a lot of time. Maybe you didn't have service and that is understandable. I also do not check my email while in a signing. I answer my phone but don't get on the net at all unless I am looking up the email for the signing I am in for phone #'s.

I thought my day was bad.
Readers, problem signers, emergency jobs, etc. But nothing like your day. Wow.
