Question about Title Election insurance doc

Ok first time Im being asked to sign in the witness part. I have never signed there on any docs but this one company wants me to sign....So I know this is probably an elementary question but do I sign or just leave it blank as I have always done....

I sometimes get work from a lawyer doing Living Trusts and always has me sign as a Notary and as a Witness. I do it all the time.

The problem with notary forums is...

...there is no easy way to post the text of a document (with names disguised). Some questions can't be answered without seeing the document.

All it says is borrowers are not electing to purchase owners policy for title insurance. I love in Va, witnesses are not neccessary here.

***I love in Va,***

I'm booking a plane ticket to Richmond as soon as I sign off. I'm not nearly as geographically restrictive in my loving.

I turned off autocorrect on my Android as soon as I got it

I can screw up very well on my own without having a smartphone help me... Can you not turn that "feature" off on an iPhone, or is that another bit of Apple arrogance that you just have to learn how to deal with?

Sharing those bloopers is hilarious too. I love when people

write back scratching their heads, etc.

Re: The problem with notary forums is...

If the company that hired has requested you to sign as a witness, and you do see the signers sign the document. Go ahead and sign as a witness….why not? Just don’t notarize your own signature. It does not matter that VA does not require witnesses on recorded docs/instruments of conveyance, if it’s requested by the hiring party and is not illegal why not do it?

Re: The problem with notary forums is...

In this case, the key issue is what the notary is asked to say about the witnesses. If the notary is only asked to notarize the principal, and there is nothing in the notary certificate about the witnesses, then the notary can be a witness (unless your state has a special rule).

As long as you're not being asked to notarize your own signature, I really don't see the problem here.

I'd have no problem in signing it. Just because VA isn't a

"witness" state (meaning witnesses are required), we can still sign as a witness if asked. I had a similar request & don't have any issues with it.
