Question re: NR background check report
For those of you who have received a BGC from this site, did your report show an incorrect "move out" date? Under the section that is headed "SSN TRACE", it lists my current address (with an incorrect city name from before this area was incorporated about 20 years ago, but that's another issue) and a reasonably correct move in date. But it also lists a move out date of 02/2012. I've lived here for 16 years and have no intention of moving (and I've never missed a payment and actually have equity, so no worries there.)
I called the company that produces these and was told that this info just comes from some unnamed credit data base and that all reports look like that. Have others of you found that to be the case? (I guess this business has made me very skeptical...)
Thanks for any replies.

No offense intended as Harry doesn't actually do the background checks, but, just judging from the credit reports that I get annually--- they are screwed up. They've got me married to 2 different people (sure hope my spouse doesn't find out), have taken one single address and mutilated it into 4 or more--and that's for every address over the last 30-something years.
All they really want is Pass or Fail info. You can try to get it straightened out, but it'll just get messed up again next time. Just the nature of the beast--data bases depend upon human input....

scary! not all background check companies are the same. A Washington Post article discussed this last week (see link below.) If the BGC from Not Rot is bringing up eroneous info, I hope they will investigate and change providers if warranted. http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/report-bad-background-check-data-complicates-job-search-for-thousands-regulators-little-help/2012/04/10/gIQAzB0p8S_story.html

Let's not jump to conclusions...
Sheesh! The last thing I wanted to do was to cast doubt on the acceptability of the reports being made available to us from here. The only issue I had on mine was a so-called "move out" date which I was told could have been generated by a credit inquiry of some sort. (I did buy a car at around that time.) Everything else was accurate.
However, I don't dispute what the article has to say (and I'm certainly no expert on this subject), but I think there needs to be a distinction between the various players. I don't fault Harry on this at all. And I seriously doubt that the background check offered here is any worse than ones being heavily promoted elsewhere. After all, they're probably collecting the data from the same sources. It's those sources that I would have the most concern about...
